This Month we are recognizing Nicole Pasnik-RCA as our co-worker of the month. Nicole has been providing excellent care for the past 1 1/2 years. Her team mates find her to be very hard working, dependable, positive and great with everybody. She makes her home in Derby on the lake with her husband and 8 month old daughter Aubrey. Nicole is a graduate of Bryant and Stratton’s Medical Assisting program. For fun she enjoys exercising shopping and all kinds of crafts. Congratulations Nicole!

A Letter from the Administrator

Dear Residents, families and friends, Happy Fall everyone! I think back to last year at this time and remem-

ber all the changes we were embarking on. To see the property now, it is

amazing just how much work has been done in just over one short year.

The past two weeks have been a challenge as we moved our dining room

into our new Multi-purpose room. The construction crew is working on

renovating our old dining room. They took the wall down between the old

and the new expansion on Wednesday. It was amazing to see!

I thank everyone for their patience I know it hasn’t been easy changing

seats, and even mealtimes for some. I would ask that everyone join in and

give a “thank you” to our WONDERFUL culinary team. They have been

such troopers and have done a great job with this transition.

Have a wonderful month of October!

Colleen Roy, Administrator

Edith Wilson was chosen Resident of the Month because she is so patient, kind and understanding with everyone. She is originally from Niagara Falls New York and is the proud mother of two. Edith worked as a secretary for a pediatrician. Her travels have included Canada, Mexico and throughout the United States. Her favorite hobbies include knitting and sewing and at one time she belonged to various sewing clubs. Congratulations Edith and thank you for being you! We hope you feel better soon!

Join us for Trick or Treat Night Wed. October 26 from 6:30-8:00

JS- JUST A FEW NOTES FROM JIM

Now that autumn is officially here, I would like to mention some upcoming dates of interest: Columbus Day-Oct. 10, Sweetest Day-Oct. 15, Bosses Day-Oct. 17, United Nations Day-Oct. 24, and Halloween-Oct. 31. Immediately, following this , arrives November, which I would like to think about in advance because on November 8 comes presidential Election Day which occurs only once every four years when we elect a new president of the US. Many citizens are already inquiring “who are you going to vote for?” No, I don't have a specific candidate or particular party to recom-mend when you vote on Nov. 8. But among the many questions to be considered before we decide whom to elect should be what evidence does the candidate give of being a leader of all the people of all 50 states. Some of the hot topics in this year’s debate are: wage growth, substance abuse, health-care reform and international and domestic terrorism. When visiting Washington several months ago, Pope Fran-cis was invited to address the US Congress where he stated” the tireless and de-manding pursuit of the common good is the chief aim of all politics. Living in a nation where we have the freedom to choose our leaders makes us proud to be Ameri-cans. Look out the window and be reminded of “America The Beautiful”.

What is Resident Council?

Our Resident Council is comprised of you, our resi-dents. It meets on the 4th Monday of the month at 10:00. Its purpose is to en-rich living at Orchard Heights by your input . It is your time to get your ques-tions and concerns ad-dressed and to propose better ways of doing things. It is also a time when you get an update about what is new around here including: construction updates, new staff and residents and up-coming events. All resi-dents are welcome to at-tend. At the invitation of the council, management staff is present to address con-cerns, suggestions from you the residents! We want to hear your voice. Please join us October 24 at 10 in the new Recreation space!
