The history of optometry, basic concepts of optometry, Schematic eye and normal eye models

from various researchers, binocular vision, eye charts to check distant and near vision, visual

acuity, ametropia and symptomatology.

Methodology of checking the vision using basic optometry devices and Subjective Refraction, so

that students develop diagnostic reasoning skills.

The course includes:

• Anatomy and physiology of the eye

• Ametropia and symptomatology

• History of Optometry

• Basic principles of operation and use of basic optometric instruments (box of lenses,

retinoscope, ophthalmoscope and especially Direct & Indirect Ophthalmoscopy, phoropter,
