After having a bye for Round 1 they were keen to get out there and finally play a game. The boys started strong and it wasn’t long before they were on the scoreboard. The first goal came from some fantastic teamwork between the Baker boys. Jonas continued the momentum for Gloucester and managed to get one in just before half time making it 2 – 0. In the second half Barrington made some solid breaks but with a strong defence from all the boys they just couldn’t get one in. A short corner set play conversion between Jackson and Lachlan in the final seconds of the match sealed the deal making the full-time score 3 – 0. Thank you to the parents who transported students to the game and supported from the sideline. Thanks also to the umpires for refereeing the match and Trevor Bolton and Ollie Rinkin for travelling over to coach the boys. The boys will face either Soldiers Point Public School or Kahibah Public School in the next round. Team (in no particular order): Liam Wamsley, Matthew Woods, Rhys Summerville, Jonas De Angelis, Jackson Moore (captain), Drew Gorton, Tiko Samson, Jacob Edwards, Bailey Murison, Lachlan Sansom, Christopher Bolton, Cody Sparke, Asher Baker and Brodie Baker. Mel Seale and Kim Macdonald (Hockey Coordinators) (Girls report next week)

Our School is a Smoke Free Environment

An outdoor public place is a smoke free area. Schools are smoke free areas. The Smoke-free Environment Act 2000 makes a number of outdoor public places smoke - free. Smoking is banned within 4 metres of any school entrance point (pedestrian point/entrance). This law is called the ‘4 metre law’. Smoking is banned in enclosed areas of public places in NSW such as schools. Please do not smoke within 4 metres of our exit and entry points of our school. This limits the opportunity for people and students to gain second hand smoke. There is an on the spot fine of $300 if you are smoking within 4 metres of a pedestrian exit or entry point at a school. Recently, we have found multiple cigarette butts on the ground near our school gates. If you are a smoker, could you please refrain from dropping your cigarette butts at the entry and exit points at our school and ensure the ‘4 metre law’ applies. Thank you

NAIDOC DAY at Gloucester Public School I would like to welcome Barrington Public School, Stratford Public School, Stroud Road Public School, Barrington Street Long Day Care and Preschool and Gloucester Preschool to our NAIDOC day tomorrow. Our day will start at 9.15am with a welcome assembly with traditional Aboriginal song and dance. We will then break into 4 rotations and end the day with a farewell assembly. The school will be providing every student with lunch (sausage in a hotdog bun, drink and a treat) which will kindly be provided by the P&C. I would like to thank our P&C and volunteers in advance for their support tomorrow. We are looking forward to a fantastic day, which will be performed by Koomurri Aboriginal Incursions. Yours in Education - Leanne Wakefield, Principal

Stage 3 Excursion Amendments A yellow note was sent home with all Stage 3 students outlining some changes to their excursion to the Central West in Week 6 next term. These changes were essential in ensuring those who have paid deposits on time were able to attend without significant cost changes. With participating students falling short of projected numbers, the key change was to drop one of the coaches in favour of taking just one larger coach to cover costs. However, this of course has now restricted the number of students able to attend. With a rush on the final tickets, the coach is now full. Any students wishing to attend that have not yet paid a deposit, may now put their name onto the waiting list in the admin office. Should you have any further questions, please don’t hesitate to contact me at school. Rod Maggs Assistant Principal – Stage 3

SRC Pyjama Day

Next week (Week 10) on Thursday, 4th July, the SRC are holding a Pyjama Day to raise money for the SRC end-of-year gift to the school. Please wear sensible winter pyjamas with school shoes (or joggers), a school hat and school jumper. A collar on pyjamas would be preferred. If you do not have a collar, please make sure that the top is sensible. No ugg boots or slippers are to be worn.

Please bring in a gold coin donation on the day if you decide to wear pyjamas. Thank you for your support. If you have any questions, please see the SRC Executive or your class SRC representative. We look forward to a great day. SRC Executive

Year 7 in 2020 at GHS For those parents planning to send their child to Gloucester High School in 2020, you should have received an application to enrol in the post. Please ensure you read this package carefully and return it to the high school by the due date. If you require any information, please feel free to contact the high school. Of course, we will also attempt to assist you with any questions you may have regarding this process. Rod Maggs Assistant Principal – Stage 3 Beyblade Tournament

The much-anticipated Beyblade Tournament starts tomorrow. All students who have signed up will need to be in the library at 1.00pm so we can discuss the

rules and procedures before we start. There is a draw outside the library if you would like to see who you are battling against and there are a few places left. Be quick as they won’t take long to fill. This tournament is for primary students only. Students are reminded to clearly label all items that they bring to school. Please see Mrs Seale if you have a stadium that you are willing to lend as we only have 1 stadium at this stage. NOTE: The tournament will be held in the Purple Room this week as the library is being used for our NAIDOC DAY events. Mel Seale Primary Sport in Week 8 Due to many of our primary students heading up to Gloucester High School to watch their performance of The Wizard of Oz on Friday 28 June, normal winter sport rotations will be cancelled on this day. Sport will resume as normal the following week. Rod Maggs Assistant Principal – Stage 3

NAIDOC DAY Due to Naidoc Day tomorrow there will be NO LUNCH ORDERS AVAILABLE on this day. Each student will receive a sausage on a bun, popper and a treat. Helpers are required on the day so if you could spare an hour or two it would be very much appreciated. Please drop into the canteen or call me on 0447 727 388 if you can help. Recess will be as normal. The recipe for our Crunchy Fruit Yoghurt Cups has been requested. It’s as simple as: -

Tin fruit (of your choice) in bottom of a cup/glass followed by yoghurt (of your choice) and then topped with a spoonful of crunchy muesli or granola. The canteen makes their own granola by mixing rolled oats, coconut and honey. Spread on a baking tray and bake in 150c oven until brown. Try it at home. Delicious! Lisa Norrie Canteen Supervisor
