PRINCIPAL’S REPORT Reports – staff are extremely busy finalising assessments within the classroom and wring student reports. These will be sent home on Wednesday 26 June (week 9) Budding Chefs/Gardeners – the current group of gardeners and chefs finishes today and the new groups of students start next week. If your child came home with a note yesterday please return it to the office as soon as possible. I know there is a new group of students excited to be cooking. Behaviour – I have had several parents discuss with me student behaviour at school and on the bus. It is important that students follow the school rules and listen to teacher instrucons to ensure their safety. All students need to treat others with respect which means playing nicely, being polite and not teasing others. I expect our older students to be good role models for our younger students. Behaviour on the bus by students needs to be outstanding. Drivers need to get your children to and from school safely and this is made difficult when students are misbehaving. Please emphasise with your children the importance of staying in their seats while the bus is moving and that they should not be teasing other students. Principals from other schools have on occasion rung the school to make a complaint about the behaviour of our students and I don’t like geng these calls at all. Jumpers – with the colder weather please make sure that your child’s jumpers are clearly marked with their name so that they can be returned when they are misplaced. Noficaons of Student Absences – with the rise of colds and flus amongst students I thought it was mely to remind parents of the procedures for nofying the school of your child’s absences. If your child is sick, please call the office and nofy Karen or send a note in with your child when they return to school. Absences that are sll unexplained aſter 7 days are recorded as such in our records and a large number of unexplained absences means that we must involve the Home School Liaison Officer (HSLO). It is also important to remember that sick children should not be sent to school unl they are feeling beer. If you have any quesons about this, please give me a call. Wednesdays connue to be our busiest day at school with a variety of acvies occurring, besides the gardening and cooking groups. Remember to come and see me if you have any quesons or concerns. 2/3/4 NEWS We’re back on track and children took homework home on Monday. As well as spelling words they have a sheet about our HSIE topic. The children will be doing a project about a National Park of their choice. This week we introduced the topic and children were asked to choose a National Park they wanted to learn more about. More details about the project will go home with next week’s homework so start researching and gathering information. Please DON’T start the project until we have set all the expectations. Reports are underway at the moment and as this also involves many different forms of assessment we are very busy assessing the students. Last week we had a few very wet days and children being children this also meant some extremely wet shoes. We love the air conditioning however it was difficult to get shoes dry. I have told the children they can bring ugg boots / slippers to school to wear whilst in the classroom. These will not be worn outside and will go home each day. Kangaroos won the point score for the last fortnight and Golden Crocs were our champion desk group. Keep In Touch Lyn

5/6 NEWS This is a busy week of final assessments for the term before report writing commences. Our final assignment for HSIE is a research project of “What you might see in a rainforest”. Students will make a diorama (model), paint a picture or collage of the flora and fauna found in a tropical rainforest. To accompany their art the students will need to include a word list which can be written or typed. Spelling will need to be edited before publishing. Each project will be presented in class in week 9. Dion and Susan

URGENT NOTICE!!!!

Dear Parent/Guardian/Carer I wish to inform you that a student in our school is currently receiving treatment for cancer. As cancer is not a contagious disease, he participates actively in the day to day school program without any major limitations. A major concern, however, is that if this student develops measles, chickenpox or whooping cough he can become seriously ill. I seek your co-operation in preventing this situation. If your child has or may have measles, chicken-pox or whooping cough, I would ask that you please: 1. DO NOT send them to school. 2. You notify the school as soon as possible. Thanking you in anticipation. Nicole Humphreys
