Database Navigator

• GUI for managing DB2/400 objects and performance– Create tables, views, aliases, indexes, functions,

procedures, journals, data types– Quickview/edit tables– Collect SQL performance data– Manage permissions(authorities) on DB objects

• Create, save, run SQL Scripts– Document editor interface associated to files of .SQL– Run all, selected, or single statements– SQL examples can be inserted and modified

Table enhancements

• Table Description: equal to Display File Description (DSPFD) command

• Locked rows: shows locked rows, the locking job and its job log

• View Executing SQL– List of active jobs with SQL statements running– Some job control (joblog, end job)– Can take the SQL statement running into the editor

• Visual Explain– Pictorial view of query execution– Query developer can understand execution flow of the

query and use this to do performance tuning

Right click the new Library called OOxxxxxxxx,

Select New, Select Table

Name the table EMPLOYERS and give it a description. Click OK.
