Welcome to the 9th edi-tion of Open Streets Hamilton on James
Street North! Open Streets Hamilton is the product of local neighbourhood asso-ciations, businesses, environmental organizations and city departments working together to promote the use of walking, cycling and public transit in the city. It’s also used as a way to highlight the great work being done in the city to create a safe, healthy and sustainable future for everyone. We would like to thank all the volunteers, city staff, organizations, residents and businesses that have given their support, time, energy and effort in support of this amazing proj-ect. FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS1. What is an Open Streets event? Open Streets Hamilton is part of a network of events taking
place all over the world to re-purpose streets for fun, active, and creative activities. By connect-ing communities through active transportation, you open up opportunities for collaboration, support, sharing, and communication that we sometimes miss when we drive through in our car.
2. Who is involved with Open Streets Hamilton? We are a volunteer-led and organized group of various individuals, organizations, city departments and businesses including: Hamilton Public Works, Hamilton Public Health, Hamilton Cycling Committee, Hamilton-Ward 2 Office, Green Venture, Environment Hamilton, North End Neighbours, Beasley Neighbourhood Association, Social Planning & Research Council of Hamilton (SPRC) and YWCA Hamilton!
3. Who organizes your event? Our organization is comprised of a number of dedicated individu-als who sit on our Board of Directors, namely: Brandon Braithwaite, Dave Stephens, Mike Cam-eron, Bill Samone and Mark Raymond. Our June 2015 event is organized, promoted and led by Director of Operations and Event Coordinator Sunil Angrish, who is a former board member and founding director and has been involved since our first event in 2010.
4. Besides the events, what else do you do? Excellent Question! We have an award-winning Bike Valet program in Hamilton which is available at a number of events across the city. As well we have recently partnered with SPRC Hamilton and Environment Hamilton on the promotion of a robust Complete Streets policy in Hamilton.
5. How can I support Open Streets Hamilton? There are many ways to support us, including participating at our events, advertising, becoming a sponsor, volunteering, donating directly to support our projects, or promoting/supporting us online or at your business/venue!

for Hamilton!
There is growing momentum for Complete Streets in Hamilton. Now more than ever, actions at the neighbourhood level can help to bring tangible change more quickly to Hamilton’s streets so they become safer, more convenient and more comfortable for all road users, including pedestrians, cyclists, transit users and motor vehicles.
