May 13, 2011 is the 19th anniversary of the introduction of Falun Dafa (also known as Falun Gong) to the public and will be celebrated by practitioners and supporters in over 100 countries worldwide. Festivities and celebration activities will be held across Canada in May to mark this wondrous time. Kelowna practitioners are hereby asking for your support to join these efforts.

As practitioners across Canada gather in various cities and municipalities to celebrate the anniversary, we would like to request a proclamation or a greeting letter from you to celebrate this day together with other Falun Gong practitioners' families and friends.

A traditional Qigong exercise based on ancient Chinese values, Falun Dafa emphasizes the principles of Truthfulness, Compassion and Forbearance in every practitioner's lives. The practice comprises a set of 5 gentle tranquil exercises, similar to Tai Chi, through which one is able to attain a healthy body, mind, and spirit. More than 100 million practitioners all over the world have benefited tremendously through Falun Dafa. Moreover, all practice activities and classes are open to the public and free of charge.

Since its introduction to the public on May 13th, 1992 by its founder, Mr. Li Hongzhi, Falun

Dafa has received worldwide recognition for its concerted efforts to promote harmony, tolerance and compassion in society. Falun Dafa month has been celebrated and received thousands of awards, proclamations and congratulatory letters nationwide for the benefits, both spiritual and physical, that it has provided to its practitioners as well as the society as a whole.

Even though an unjustified persecution against Falun Dafa was launched in China on July 20th,

1999 by the former Chinese president Jiang Zemin, its popularity has not only remained undiminished but has instead popularized worldwide. Due to the righteous deeds of Falun Dafa practitioners peacefully opposing the persecution and clarifying the truth, many propaganda­deceived Chinese people are awakening worldwide to the true situation. This is a worthy cause for humanity to once again value its morality and human virtues in the face of brutal persecution. Falun Dafa practitioners across the world have walked a truly moral, righteous and honourable path, having won the wide recognition, support and proclamation from the world's people.

Together, we will commemorate this historical era of millions of Falun Dafa practitioners' righteous deeds and once again, acknowledge Falun Dafa for its benefits that it has not only brought to individuals, societies, but to the entire world.

Celebrating May 2011 as Falun Dafa Month Honouring Truthfulness Compassion and Forbearance

Whereas Falun Dafa is an advanced exercise and meditation practice of mind, body and spirit based on the principles of "Truthfulness, Compassion and Forbearance"; and

Whereas Since its public introduction in 1992 by Mr. Li Hongzhi, Falun Dafa teachings have helped over 100 million people worldwide improve their health, elevate their mind, uplift their spirit, and deepen their understanding of life, humanity, and the universe; and

Whereas More men and women of Canada are learning the practice and purifying their hearts, energizing their bodies, and embracing peaceful, virtuous communities; and

Whereas Falun Dafa emphasizes a holistic approach to health that includes the cultivation of one's moral character by following the universe's benevolent characteristics ofTruthfulness-Compassion­Forbearance, as well as practicing gentle qigong exercises; and

Whereas: Falun Dafa transcends cultural and racial boundaries and contributes to the universal dream of peaceful, tolerant and more compassionate society;
