Fall 2010 /Winter 2011 New and Continuing Open StudiesDegree
Holder, Non Degree, and Visiting Student Applicants
All applicants must provide required documents prior to
successful acceptance and registration access.
Requirements:
1. Proof of English Language Proficiency. Visit
http://www.ucalgary.ca/admissions/elp for full details onmeeting
this requirement. If you have met this requirement by completing an
English test (e.g. MELAB,TOEFL) you must present proof of this when
submitting your application.
2. Transcripts from all post-secondary institutions you have
attended. If you have been awarded a
degree, the date of conferral and degree awarded must be
reflected on the document. A transcriptshowing credit courses
completed at U of C is not required as this information already
exists on your file. Please note that web-based transcripts are not
accepted.
3. High school transcript . If you are registering for a course
that has a high school prerequisite or youare demonstrating English
Language Proficiency based on your high school studies, you must
provide acopy of this document. Web-based high school transcripts
are not accepted.
4. Visiting Students must provide a Letter of Permission from
the home institution . This letter shouldstate approval to attend U
of C and indicate the intended term of study. We strongly recommend
thatthe specific course(s) are identified, but this is not
mandatory.
5. $35.00 non-refundable application fee. Payable by Visa,
MasterCard, debit card, bank draft, money
order, cash, or cheque (payable to the University of Calgary).
If you have applied and paid theapplication fee for admission into
a degree program for the Fall term, the $35.00 application fee will
bewaived. This fee is also waived if you have completed U of C
credit courses in previous terms andreceived a grade for the
course(s).
6. A fully completed application form. This must reflect your
full legal name as it appears on your birthcertificate and/or
passport. Please sign and date your form.
7. DEADLINES: The deadline to submit your application as an Open
Studies or Visiting Student is thelast business day prior to
classes beginning for a particular academic term.
Acceptance as an Open Studies or Visiting Student is at the
discretion of the University of Calgary.
Course Registration:To find out what you need to know to
register in your courses (including exceptions and approvals),
visitwww.ucalgary.ca/registration , or call 403-210-ROCK
(7625).
Open Studies Students - Engineering Courses:Faculty permission
is required to register in Engineering courses. Contact the
Engineering Undergraduate Studies Office([email protected] , or
403-220-5732) to have approval posted to your account. If you are a
new Open Studies applicant,please secure written registration
approval on your Open Studies application prior to submitting it to
Enrolment Services.
Completed applications and supporting documentation may be
submitted by mail, fax, or in person at the EnrolmentServices
office, MacKimmie Library Block.
