Building “hazard awareness” into all development projects

Current Situation: often need advanced expertise and experience (and time) to determine hazard levels in a project area (e.g. pga, probability of exceedance, AAL, return periods)

As a result, development professionals from across bilateral, multi-lateral institutions, NGO’s, etc., are often only considering the obvious hazards

The Future: selection of a project location provides clear information on hazard potential, the steps to follow to reduce risk / build resilience into a project
