A WORKSHOP WITH THE OPAL VAPOUR ARTISTS CONTEMPORARY CULTURAL RITUALJade Dewi Tyas Tunggal, Paula van Beek and Ria Soemardjo made their critically-acclaimed performance work Opal Vapour through finding a shared language across art forms and cultural ancestry. This workshop explores the processes of artistic and cross-cultural collaboration and the making of contemporary cultural rituals.

This is a multi-disciplinary workshop, which is modeled on the collaborative and deeply personal process undertaken by the three artists together over the last two years. Participants will examine inheritance, (dis)connection to place of origin, and personal to universal story-telling; and together will experiment with resonant voice, dance improvisation and textiles shadow play.

The workshop is suitable for emerging and professional artists across disciplines, including dancers, choreographers, musicians, composers, visual artists, designers and performance-makers.
