The middle finger is the tallest finger. It re-

minds us of our leaders. Pray for our President

and for other elected officials. Remember those

who serve in the military defending the free-

doms we enjoy but sometimes take for granted.

Finally, pray for leaders in business and industry

and others who play an important part in shaping

our world.

The fourth finger is our ring finger. Surpris-

ingly, it probably is our weakest finger, as those

who play the piano probably can testify. It

should remind us to pray for those who are weak,

or in trouble, or in sorrow, or in pain. They need

our prayers continually.

Last of all is our little finger. It is the smallest

of all. Therefore, it reminds us of where we

should position ourselves in relationship to God

and others. Your pinkie should remind you to

pray for yourself.

Space Study Committee

Our Space Study Committee recently received

the report from our architect, Rik Sowell. Pray

for the members of the committee as they study

the report and prepare to bring recommenda-

tions to the church.

From my heart to yours:

Prayer Ministry

Recently, a member of our church

family told me that he received a note

from participants in our prayer ministry that he

had been remembered in prayer. It touched his

heart, he said, and made him thankful to be a part

of such a thoughtful, loving, caring church.

We do have a Prayer Room where prayer takes

place on a regular basis. Patty Prince is our capa-

ble Prayer Ministry Coordinator. Talk to her if

you are interested in a regular, specific time slot

to spend in our Prayer Room. S. D. Gordon has re-

minded us that we can do more than pray after we

have prayed; but we can do no more than pray until

we have prayed!

Five Finger Prayer Plan

While on the subject of prayer, let me suggest an

easy to remember prayer plan. I don’t know who

to acknowledge for this practical spiritual exer-

cise.

Your thumb is nearest you. So begin your prayers

by praying for those closest to you. They are in

your thoughts daily, and so are the easiest to re-

member. To pray for our loved ones is, as C. S

Lewis once said, a “sweet duty.”

The next finger is your index or pointing finger.

Pray for those who preach and teach and heal.

These include teachers, doctors and nurses, minis-

ters, and missionaries. They need wisdom and sup-

port in pointing people in the right direction. Keep

them in your prayers.

SCOTT FRAKER

BIOGRAPHY

Scott is originally from Niangua, MO. After High School, Scott attended Missouri State University in Spring-field, MO. Music has always been a part of Scott’s life and he has been singing since the age of 3. Believe it or not, Scott even sang in a Girl’s Choir until age 15. Scott’s four and-a-half octave range as a bass singer had not yet been discovered. “My Senior year of High School was the first time I was able to sing with a Boy’s Choir,” Scott admits. With a change in voice, Scott unleashed his four and-a-half octave range—singing as high as he does low—on the world of music to rave reviews. In college he performed with the MSU Traveling Choir and with the acappella group “The Wingtips”, who appeared on the Today Show, Good Morning America, and the CBS Morning Show in 1990. Scott recalls that the last thing he ever expected to do was sing with three other guys. While Scott was with the Wingtips, he got to perform with the Legendary Chuck Berry, Jerry Lee Lewis, Frankie Avalon, and he even got to sing for then President George Bush.

Scott left The Wingtips in 1993 after receiving a call from one of the guys he sang with in Choir at Missouri State who was now singing with the gospel group Chosen Few at Silver Dollar City in Branson, MO. Scott soon accepted a position with Chosen Few and remained at Silver Dollar City until their final show in October 2001. From 1993-1996 Scott and Chosen Few were the House Gospel Group at Silver Dollar City where they sang to over 2.5 million people every year. In 1996 Chosen Few won the “Nashville Starbound” Contest performing on the stage of the Grand Ole Opry. In 1997, SDC moved them to the 4000 seat Echo Hollow Amphitheater there inside the park where they headlined the 2 hour “Sundown Jubilee Show” 6 nights a week. They were awarded the Show of the Year in the 2001 Branson Fan Awards. Even with a very successful show, the guys knew that God was calling them to a work far more precious than the lights of Branson MO. “We spent almost every night on our knees in our dressing room that 2001 season,” Scott recalled. In November 2001, Scott and the guys left Silver Dollar City to begin their fulltime ministry on the road. From 2001-2005 Scott recalls them singing in over 1000 churches and civic organizations. They went Coast to Coast and even had the opportunity to do a crusade in Nicaragua where they witnessed a little over 2,100 people come to the Saving Knowledge of Jesus Christ. In November of 2005 God again was work-ing on the hearts of the guys, but this time He was working on them in an individual fashion. “I knew that God had called me to preach in the 11th grade”, Scott said. “I had just chosen to run away from that calling on my life”. After being in front of millions of people over the last several years, Scott’s heart was being re-tuned for the work that God would set before him. He knew it was time to once again to step out on faith and lean on the promise that God would make a way. Scott is now traveling, Singing, Preaching, and Teaching all over the United States. He has a tremendous burden for the lost and a great burning to see our Churches Revived again. His passion for these things is very evident in his services. “There are so many great things that God wants us to experience. It’s my burden and my passion… to help people leave the “Valley of Regret” behind…and to re-direct them to their rightful place…At the KINGS TABLE”! Scott still entertains in Branson, MO, at the Pierce Arrow Theater.

The Intercessory Prayer Ministry

completed its twenty-third year the end of

January 2017. In 2016, our Volunteers in Prayer (VIPs) spent 454 hours praying in

the prayer room for your prayer needs and the needs of others. Your prayer concerns

are important to us! Be assured, every prayer request received is fervently prayed

over and kept in the strictest confidence.

Do you have a prayer request? If so, simply fill out a Prayer Request Card, located in the back of each pew, and place

it in the Offering Plate. Or, if you’d prefer, call the BRBC Prayer Line, 501-922-6436,

to share your prayer request. We are so blessed to have a designated Prayer Line.

Let’s use it! (Please note, the Prayer Line phone/answering system re-

cently malfunctioned and was replaced with a more advanced system. A special

thank you to James Roberts for selecting, purchasing, and setting-up our new sys-

tem so quickly).

Do you have one hour a week you

can spare to pray for others? Then contact

Patty Prince, 409-988-4810, to find out

how YOU can become part of one of the

most vital ministries of our church ─ the

Intercessory Prayer Ministry.

PRAYER

MINISTRY PURE WATER

PURE LOVE

CAMPAIGN

Pat Carpenter will share about how the

Pure Water, Pure Love campaign helps mis-

sionaries and others with their needs for

clear, clean, drinkable water. The primary

goal of PWPL is to provide missionaries with

water filters and the people they serve with

wells that offer clean water, free from dis-

ease-causing microorganisms.

HOPE

MOVEMENT

MINISTRY

The BRBC Women’s Ministry Team will

be collecting new shampoos, soaps and per-

sonal toiletry items for women participating

the Hope Movement program in Hot Springs.

The Hope Movement is a faith-based Chris-

tian ministry working with area women who

have completed court-ordered requirements

and/or drug rehabilitation programs and are

ready to return to the community.

Terry Lawler, Interim Director, will

share their aim of helping stabilize women

and families by providing a support network.

VALENTINE’S DAY

POTLUCK LUNCH, 11:30—1:00

Ermma Campbell and her daughter, Laiken

Boyd, recently joined Barcelona Road Baptist

Church after they were “outnumbered” by a group

of BRBC members at a yard sale and heard about

the church family. The yard sale was at Ron and

Joanne Kunath’s house and Shelly Wagner was

there, along with Jerry and Agnes Skinner. Ermma

says she had been looking for a church home since

she moved to HSV in August and she took their

advice and tried the church and liked it.

Ermma lived in Glenwood while raising her

boys, then moved to Michigan where her husband

was from. She moved back to northeast Arkansas

to take care of her mother. After her mother

passed away, she decided to come to the Village to

be closer to her grandchildren. Ermma has mostly

worked in dental offices during her career and is

now retired.

Ermma had two sons, one of whom lives with

her. Her oldest son passed away in a motorcycle

accident.

Her daughter Laiken attends school at

Jessieville and has wonderful teachers there.

Laiken has been involved in Special Olympics, and

is a good bowler and swimmer, Ermma said. They

hope to be more involved in Special Olympics in

this area too.

Ermma has joined the Kunaths’ JOY Sunday

School class and is enjoying getting to know more

people. She is looking forward to participating in

Ladies Day Out and the other women’s activities.

Because of the success of

Operation Christmas Child in 2016 (315

boxes completed), BRBC is going to be

collecting items in the same way this

year.

We will have boxes in the Sanc-

tuary foyer and the office hallway for

donations. Items for each month will be

publicized in the Banner and Sunday

bulletin but any items may be turned in

at any time.

Your help is needed to make sure

this project is a success for reaching

children and their parents around the

world.

February the featured items are

clothing such as baseball caps, socks,

t-shirts, underwear, hats, scarves, and

gloves.
