ABOUT VTU

Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU) is one of the largest Technological

Universities in India with 20 years of Tradition of excellence in Engineering & Technical

Education, Research and Innovations. It came into existence in the year 1998 to cater the needs

of Indian industries for trained technical manpower with practical experience and sound

theoretical knowledge. University has very successfully achieved the tremendous task of

bringing various colleges affiliated earlier to different Universities, with different syllabi,

different procedures and different traditions under one umbrella. The university having 202

affiliated colleges, 1 constituent college and 17 Autonomous colleges with undergraduate

courses in 35 disciplines, PG program in 94 disciplines and Ph.D& M.sc (Engg.) with research

programs in 592 departments, over 4 lakhs Engineering Students study in the various institutes

affiliated to the University. The University has 13 Quality Improvement Programme (QIP)

centers in various affiliated colleges and 16 extension centers for offering PG programs. The

University has revised the syllabus for UG and PG from the academic year 2014-15. It has four

regional centers across the State of Karnataka in Belagavi, Bengaluru, Kalaburagi and Mysuru

respectively. University is comprised of a multi-disciplinary and multi-level institution offering

wide ranging programmes in engineering, technology and Management. The University is

making steady progress in developing and providing best technical environment for education

and will continue to serve the nation in coming years.

ABOUT THE INSTITUTE:

C.Byregowda Institute of Technology (CBIT), established in the year 2009 is approved

by AICTE, New Delhi and is affiliated to Visvesvaraya technological University (VTU),

Belagavi, Karnataka. The institute offers both UG & PG courses Mechanical, Civil, Electronics

& Communications, and Computer Science engineering branches. All the departments have well

qualified staff and well equipped laboratories, library, computing & sports facilities along with

other amenities. The college is located at a distance of 63 kms from Bengaluru city.

The chief patrons of the college Dr.A.Prabhakar Reddy President of the institute is great

scholar and doctor by profession and Er.Krishna Reddy.V Secretary of the institute and Civil

engineer and Dr.Sreerama Reddy G M Principal of the college are supporting in all aspects and

working for further up liftment of the rural college by allowing the Departments to conduct such

workshops and awareness camps.

ABOUT THE EDC CELL:

Entrepreneurship development cell (EDC Cell) of CBIT Kolar objective is to develop and

strengthen entrepreneurial qualities in the budding professionals who are interested in starting

their own ventures. EDC cell also motivate, support and mentor students for identification,

development and commercialization of their innovative ideas. The EDC cell of CBIT Kolar

provides infrastructure and technical support to the students having innovative ideas to transform

into new products and services for the betterment of the society, In this regard it has MOU with

C.Byregowda Info Solutions LLP which provides very good sophisticated research laboratory

and training to students to initiate targeted number of innovative student projects for new product

development.

ABOUT THE ENTREPRENEURSHIP AWARENESS PROGRAM

ON 20th April 2018

Entrepreneurship is the only venue where one pursues their view and sees the fruition of

their vision. Self-employment allows persons to do their own thing, and pursue those areas that

they feel passionate about. Entrepreneurs face tremendous challenges and experience incredible

joys when these challenges are overcame thus students can also succeed in life as

entrepreneurship as alternative career option.

As College Academics motivate and train students to face university exams with

confidence, there is hardly any effort in developing the skill and motivation of entrepreneurship

within curriculum. To develop and strengthen entrepreneurial qualities in students, CBIT started

Entrepreneurship development cell in college. With the first step of action EDC cell of CBIT

planned and organized One day Entrepreneurship Awareness Camp on 20th April 2018 in the

view of creating awareness among students about various facets of entrepreneurship while

highlighting the merits of pursuing such a career option. In this regard it invited experienced

experts form university (Dr Gavimath CC, Special officer EDC Cell VTU, Belgaum) &

Government agencies (Mr Manjunath and team Environmental pollution control officer,

Pollution board, Govt of Karnataka) to create awareness of entrepreneurship to students.

ABOUT THE PROGRAM PROCEEDINGS:

Inauguration Program

Honorable Chief guest Dr Gavimath C C, Special officer EDC Cell, VTU, Belgaum

inaugurated the Program and in his key note address he highlighted importance of self-

employment and motivated students to develop entrepreneurship attitude with ethical values.

Principal of CBIT Dr. Sreerama Reddy G M in his presidential remarks suggested

students that innovative thinking, Self discipline, determination and hard work are the important

characteristics required for students to become young entrepreneurs, to supports his view he also

highlighted some real life examples of successful entrepreneurs.

HODs of all the departments, teaching and nonteaching staff and students of CBIT were

present for Inauguration function.

1st Session:

Dr Gavimath CC in his speech motivated students to become young entrepreneurs and

also highlighted the role of EDC Cell of VTU in motivating young professional to become

entrepreneurs. He also gave many real life examples to develop entrepreneurial attitude by

inculcating leadership qualities. He motivated students to be innovative. He said the most

successful entrepreneurs are not simply the hardest working, they’re the most innovative.

Entrepreneurship goes hand-in-hand with innovation the ability to produce new ideas; provide

better solutions; and pioneer new products. He also explained his most of innovative products in

field of microbiology, environmental engineering & Biofuels to motivate students to be

innovative and to arrive with simple solutions to society and environmental problems.

2nd Session :

Mr Manjunath , Environmental pollution control officer, Pollution board, Govt of

Karntaka . In his speech he Highlighted role of entrepreneurship in economic growth of country

and also highlighted problems faced by entrepreneurs to start new venture and solutions to

address them.

He suggested students to get benefited from various programs of govt of India under

ministry of industries(Like Mudra Scheme) for initial capital investment and also explained the

procedure to be followed to get register startup companies.

Valedictory program:

Mr Manjunath, Environmental pollution control officer, Pollution board, Govt of

Karnataka graced the program as chief guest for valedictory program along with

Dr Gavimath C C, Special officer EDC Cell, VTU, Belgaum.

Mr Manjunath and Dr Gavimath C C in their speech thanked CBIT for inviting them for

program, and appreciated students for their enthusiastic participation with plenty of queries about

entrepreneurship.

Principal of CBIT, Kolar Dr Sreerama Reddy G M Thanked Mr Manjunath and Dr

Gavimath CC for motivating and guiding the students to become young entrepreneurs. He

appreciated students for their enthusiastic participation and also expressed that such lot more of

awareness camps will be conducted from CBIT in future for benefit of students.

Students in their feedback expressed their happiness in attending entrepreneurship

awareness camp and thanked college and speakers for igniting the spark of entrepreneurship

thought to succeed in life as as alternative career option.
