Next Meeng: Rebecca & Patrick Smith

Honorable Mention recipients
from the Dallas Regional Sci-

What would the June meeting
be without a Field Day presen-
tation? Mike – N5MAJ and
Sid – K5DKW will be provid-
ing the latest updates for
MARC Field Day 2018.
Did you make an appearance at the Smiles Charity Event? If
not…. well, it was HOT! Thanks to all who could take some time
out of their Memorial Day weekend to generously assist with this
noteworthy and worthwhile event. I think we all had a great time!
Also, let’s not forget about the MARC/ARRL 50th anniversary
Special Event Station operation which occurred May 5th and 6th.
We have thus far logged 66 QSOs from U.S. and Canada via
phone and the FT-8 digital mode. If anyone has additional QSOs,
please get them to me and I will upload them to the W5MRC QRZ
logbook.
And the W5OWL station at the Heard Museum is now operational
on 70 centimeters, 2, 10, 15 and 20 meters. During May we had
several antenna parties, culminating with the removal, repair and
reinstallation of the HF tri-band antenna. We still need some ad-
ditional work, but we are very happy with the results at this time.
Thanks to Dave KS5SK for coordinating these activities and
thanks to all who volunteered their time and resources to help.
Now let’s get ready for June: Ham-Com and Field Day! Ham-
Com is returning to Plano and the MARC Field Day event will
have a new location. And again, we welcome and need volun-
teers. Please follow Sign-Up Genius links in this newsletter.
