Par�cipa�on fee is Rs.500/- (Rupees Five Hundred only), payable to Associa�on of Indian Universi�es, through Demand Dra� along with the nomina�on form duly signed by the competent authority. This fee partly covers the cost of sta�onery, seminar bags, working lunch, and tea during the sessions.

Crea�on and dissemina�on of knowledge through research is one of the core func�ons of the higher learning ins�tu�ons. Apart from genera�ng new knowledge, the higher learning ins�tu�ons, par�cularly the universi�es also have the responsibility of training the intellectual manpower required for all sectors of the society. Quality of manpower is the most important factor for producing good quality researches. With the passage of �me, research as an ac�vity has not received due a�en�on in our universi�es. Research is considered as a prerequisite for obtaining the degree only. Lack of adequate infrastructure, resource constraints, lack of mo�va�on coupled with a few other factors do not encourage the meritorious students to take up research as a career op�on. As a result, the quality of the research conducted in our universi�es has projected a declining trend. This has raised a concern among the academic community, social thinkers and policy makers. Amongst all other factors, training of the researchers is the most crucial one. At present, in most of the universi�es, except a few disciplines, there is no adequate provision of training on research methodology. The research students o�en depend upon the supervisor/guide for even finding a suitable research problem. They also find it difficult to proceed further independently. To improve the situa�on there is a need for providing training on research methodology to the young scholars. The present workshop is an endeavor in this direc�on. AIU has taken an ini�a�ve of organizing such kind of workshop on regular basis. The present workshop will focus on the following Broad themes.

• Iden�fica�on of Research Gaps and Selec�on of Problem & Wri�ng Research Proposals• Quan�ta�ve and Qualita�ve Research Methods in Social Sciences• Hands on training on Sta�s�cal So�ware like SPSS/SAS/STATA etc.• Wri�ng Research Papers/Reports• Funding Agencies and their Funding Mechanisms

Associa�on of Indian Universi�esAssocia�on of Indian Universi�es (AIU) established in 1925 as the Inter University Board, is an apex body for univers i ty- level ins�tu�ons in India. I t i s a representa�ve body of Universi�es of India to liaise with the universi�es and the government (central as well as state) and to coordinate among the universi�es and other apex higher educa�on organiza�ons of the world. The Research Division of AIU undertakes studies on problems in emerging areas of concern in the field of Higher Educa�on. A regular ac�vity of the Research Div is ion is to organise workshops/ tra ining programmes, seminars and other capacity building programmes for university administrators and academicians.
Centre for Culture,Media & Governance (CCMG), Jamia Millia Islamia, New Delhi
The Centre for Culture, Media and Governance (CCMG), JMI is an interdisciplinary centre on communica�on studies in India located in Jamia Millia Islamia, New Delhi, a central university known for being a pioneer in the field of Media and Communica�on in India besides, other courses as well. The Centre has been iden�fied as Centre for Poten�al Excellence (CPEPA) on Media & Communica�on Studies by UGC-MHRD, 2016, received DRS-SAP 2013. The Centre has been iden�fied as Poten�al Centre for Excellence, on June 2010 according to Research Councils, UK. The centre offers both postgraduate (Media Governance) and doctoral programme. The centre focuses on teaching, research and training in the domain of Communica�on Studies in India and South Asia. It recognises the need for an interdiscipl inary commitment due to the fact that communica�on plays a pivotal role in the organisa�on of Ins�tu�onal forms, symbolic system and pa�ern of everyday life throughout the Indian subcon�nent. The centre has excelled in capacity building of young researchers, faculty members and mid career professionals in honing research skills in both quan�ta�ve and qualita�ve research techniques and exper�se in subject domains.
