'BAAHUBALI 2': A FITTING ANDFANTASY-ESQUE FINALE

CAST: PRABHAS RAJU, RANA DAGGUBATI,

RAMYA KRISHNAN, ANUSHKA SHETTY,

TAMANNAAH BHATIA, NASSER

DIRECTOR: S. S. RAJAMOULI

RATING: ***1/2

Why did Kattapa kill Baahubali? This perennial question thathaunted those who have seen "Baahubali: The Beginning" willnow be rested. Director S.S. Rajamouli does answer thisquestion and offers much more in "Baahubali 2: The Conclu-sion", which is an action-packed revenge drama. For the uninitiated, Baahubali is the story of an orphan princeAmarendra Baahubali and his son Mahendra Baahubali in theKingdom of Maheshmati. While the first edition concentrated onAmarendra being unaware of his identity, the Conclusion takesoff from where the first par t ended and delves deeper into thelife of Amarendra Baahubali, the father of Mahendra Baahubalithe child who was dramatically saved in the opening shots ofthe earlier film.Narrated in a melodramatic manner with surreal action se-quences and epic battle scenes along with plenty of dilemmasand betrayals, it is Amarendra's tale that is interestinglygripping as it answers the question of why Kattapa killedBaahubali. The final act of The Conclusion, which concentrateson Mahendra's story seems like a rushed job. And with a runtime of 167 minutes, the film eventually seems to drag.On the per formance front, with dramatic lines and over-the-top

acts, every actor per forms his par t earnestly. With an impos-ing, yet tender personality, Sathyaraj as Kattapa, the loyalwarrior, is impressive. Prabhas Raju in a dual role is charmingas Amarendra and sincere as Mahendra Baahubali.Rana Daggubati excels as the vicious Bhalladeva. But it isNassar as the scheming Bijjala Deva, father of Bhalladeva, whosteals the thunder from Rana. Ramya Krishnan as the RajmataSivagami along with Anushka Shetty as Devasena --Amarendra's wife -- offer a stimulating per formance.Tamannaah Bhatia as Avantika, Mahendra's love interest, in aminiscule role has nothing much to offer. On the technical front, like its prequel, this film too is at parwith any big ticket Hollywood caper, in terms of its mounting.Visually the film is colossal and monumentally spectacular. Infact, it is a bit better than the previous edition in terms of VFXeffects and sharper edits. The action sequences too are ar tisti-cally and aesthetically choreographed. The music and back-ground score by MM Kreem add to the cinematic experience.Unfor tunately the dubbing in Hindi is not up to the mark.Overall, this concluding par t of Baahubali will appeal to you, irrespective of whether you have seen The Beginning.

The actor, 51, said love is thesimplest yet greatest emotion known to mankind."I've learned that whatever moves you, whatever urges you to create, build, whatever keeps you from failing, whatever helps you survive,is perhaps the oldest and the simplest emotion known to mankind, and that is love," Khan said. Shah Rukh, the first Indian actor to de-liver a TED Talk, compared his "ageing" movie star persona to hu-manity. "Humanity is a lot like me. It's an ageing movie star, grappling

Talking about his constant face-off with controversies, be itabout his faith or opinion, Shah Rukh said it has become a practicewith people active on social media to target him."Everything I said took a new meaning; everything I did good, bad, ugly was there for the world to comment upon and judge... I star ted tofeel that I couldn't be who I wanted to be or say what I actually thought. We had expected an expansion of ideas and dreams; we had notbargained for the enclosure of judgement." The actor said onealways has the option to utilise one's faith to break walls or tospread fear. "You may use your power to build walls and keeppeople outside. Or you may use it to break barriers and welcomethem in. You may use your faith to make people afraid and terrifythem into submission. Or you can use it to give courage to people,so they rise to the greatest heights of enlightenment." You can't lynch actors for their opinion: Richa ChadhaMUMBAI, (PTI) Actress Richa Chadha may believe that celebrities shy away from talking about politics because of "organised" trolling, but that cer tainly doesn't stop the "Masaan" star from taking potshots at politicians. "Theymay disagree with everything but in the persecution of women, they're unified," Richa told PTI. The actress also feels strongly aboutcelebrities being trolled. "The minute somebody says something, you go after them with a lynch mob, organised trolling on social media. There is no freedom of speech and you expect us to be completely free and open as if the nation building and policy making lie solely onus," she says. Asked if it is an ar tiste's responsibility to speak out on socio-political issues, Richa states that it is an individual choice."We are ar tistes, it's not our responsibility. I've said it before, as a country we need better role models," she says. "We are not rolemodels, we are flawed." While Richa feels that it's a difficult time for ar tistes' all over the world, she is proud that Bollywood is stillmaking films that deal with real issues. "We have had a 'PK' which questioned the mob organisation of all religions.

IPL: Warner's 126 takes Hyderabadto victory over Kolkata

HYDERABAD (IANS) Opening batsman David Warner smashed a ma-rauding 126 runs off 59 deliveries as Sunrisers Hyderabad registereda crucial 48-run victory over Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in an IndianPremier League (IPL) clash at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadiumhere. The Hyderabad captain unleashed mayhem as he milked 10fours and eight sixes to power his team to 209/3 in 20 overs. Kolkatacould only score 161/7, as Hyderabad remained behind them in thepoints table at the third spot with 13 points. Warner and Shikhar Dhawanforged a 139-run par tnership for the opening wicket as the formerproduced an astonishing show of power hitting. He also became thehighest run-scorer of the tournament so far with a tally of 459 runs. After winning the toss and opting to bowl, Kolkata captain GautamGambhir applied a strategy of completing the six overs of Powerplaywith six bowlers. But none of them could stop Warner, who completedhis 50 in only 20 deliveries. At the end of six overs, Hyderabadrocketted off to 79/0, with Warner at 62 not out off 25 balls. One

delightful stroke that signified Warner's belligerence was a switch-hitto Sunil Narine as the ball went for six over the shor t third man.Later, Warner got a life as Chris Woakes dropped an easy catch atlong-off off chinaman spinner Kuldeep Yadav in the fifth ball of the10th over. The catch went over the boundary line for a six and thefollowing ball gave Warner another six to take him to 98. The next oversaw Warner complete a double with a flick towards midwicket off aUmesh Yadav delivery as he registered his century in just 43 deliver-ies.All this while, Dhawan played a perfect foil to Warner, scoring a run-a-ball 29 before being run out, with the hosts at 139/1 in 12.4 overs.Warner followed him to the dug-out soon, as he mistimed a slowdelivery from pacer Coulter-Nile to Gambhir at shor t cover, withHyderabad at 171/2 in 16.2 overs. Kane Williamson (40 off 25) laterensured that Hyderabad crossed the 200-run mark with smar tstrokeplay.

DELHI KEEP PLAY-OFFS DREAMS ALIVE WITH6-WICKET WIN OVER SUNRISERSNEW DELHI, (IANS) Delhi Daredevils kept their chances of qualifying for the Indian Premier League(IPL) play-offs alive after beating Sunrisers Hyderabad by six wickets at the Ferozeshah Kotla hereon Tuesday. On paper, it was a mismatch between Daredevils and Sunrisers but the hosts put on acollective batting effor t to register a win with five balls to spare. With their third win in the tourna-ment, Delhi moved up to the sixth spot with six points while Hyderabad are still at the third spot with13 points after their four th away loss in the tournament.All-rounders Corey Anderson's quick-fire 24-ball unbeaten 41 and Chris Morris' 7-ball 15 helpedDelhi raise an unbeaten 41-run fifth wicket stand to register the much-needed win. Chasing amammoth 186, Delhi were off to a decent star t with Sanju Samson (24 off 19 balls) and skipperKarun Nair (39 off 20) putting on 40 runs before medium pacer Mohammed Siraj packed backSamson. Samson, who had faced 19 balls by now and struck two boundaries and a six off Siraj's first deliveryof the match, was undone by a slower one in the bowler's second over which Shikhar Dhawan latched on comfortablyat cover point. Nair looked in good touch during his brief stay, which saw the ball crossing the boundary on fiveoccasions besides twice over it. The right-hander could add 32 runs for the second wicket with wicketkeeper-batsmanRishabh Pant (34 off 20) before the first strategic time-out once again saw the dismissal of a batsman, this time in theform of Nair. Medium pacer Siddharth Kaul, who was clobbered for a six and a four in his very first over by Nair, got hisknuckleball to send the right-hander back caught by Bhuvneshwar Kumar at long-off. With both the openers back in thedug out, the onus was on Pant and new man Shreyas Iyer (33 off 25) but Siraj, after getting clobbered for a six in theprevious ball got a toe crusher to cannon into the southpaw's stumps. The right-handed duo batted well to put 37 runsfor the third wicket before being separated by Siraj. Pant's dismissal brought together all-rounder Corey Anderson andIyer, who was at his destructive best, clobbering two consecutive sixes off Yuvraj Singh, before Purple Cap holderBhuvneshwar Kumar packed Iyer back with a slower bouncer. Anderson then took on the responsi-bility and with new man Morris, wasted no time in using the long handle. With 24 needed off the lastthree overs, Anderson clobbered Bhuvneshwar for a six and a four off back to back balls beforeMorris sent Kaul outside the park to take Delhi within sniffing distance of the win. Earlier, YuvrajSingh (70 not out from 41 balls) made the most of the life he got on 29 when he was droppedbySamson at deep square, to propel Sunrisers to 185/3 after being sent to bat.
