We need volunteers for Kindergarten Orientation!
Can you help volunteer on either Thursday, May 4th or Friday, May 5th?
Time slots both days are:
9 AM – Noon and/or 1 – 3 PM
Volunteers must have completed the required volunteer training through the county.
We especially need bilingual volunteers who speak Spanish.

OES Staff Appreciation Week is May 1st – May 5th
Please join us in showing our Staff and Teachers how grateful we are for all that they do!
Here are some ways you can contribute.
Monday 5/1 - Bring a Special Treat! To kick-off Staff Appreciation Week, we thought it would be great if we could get as many students as possible to bring in a special treat for their teacher(s). Some examples are: candy, cookie, single flower, balloon or piece of fruit. Be creative and have your child help choose. Treats should be delivered to teacher(s) in their classrooms on Monday. Please also remember all the other wonderful staff who make our school so special (Specials teachers, cafeteria staff, principals, counselors, building services, health room, office staff, etc).

Friday 5/5 - Create a Card! Have your child take a few minutes to create a hand-made card for his/her teacher thanking him/her for all the special things he/she does each day! Cards should be delivered to teachers in their classrooms on Friday. Don’t forget the specials teachers and other staff when making cards! The PTA will also provide the staff with Mailbox Treats on Wednesday and a Celebration Cake Party on Friday afternoon in the Staff Lounge.Thank you for your help in supporting our teachers!Cindy Chaney and Mariah Payne, PTA Staff Appreciation Committee

A note from the PTA president about the refurbished Teacher/Staff Lounge
As many of you know, the PTA board spent two full days refurbishing the OES staff lounge. Updates included a good cleaning, new appliances, fresh paint and new furniture. Both refrigerators and all cabinets were stocked with food and drinks. We are so thankful for the hard work that our teachers do all year and this was a big way to say “Thank You!” The PTA voted to spend about $3,000 on this renovation and we feel it was money well spent. The staff seems very happy with the changes, so thank you to all who helped to plan and fund this project.
