OSSC were looking to replicate our impressive cup run of last year. We started our campaign in Round 2 drawing West Preston SC (State League 4 NW) at home, which due to ground availability became the State Football Centre (Darebin). It was a nightmare start for OSSC losing a player to injury and conceding a goal within the opening minutes. Jonny Beamish pegged a volley back as the teams were locked at 1-1 at half time.

Will Mclellan scored for OSSC in the second half and it looked like we would be comfortably through before conceding an injury time equalizer. Extra time belonged to OSSC as we managed to score 2 goals through Daniel Hogben and Awal Adem. OSSC were the

fitter of the two teams and ran outthe match with West Prestongoing down to 10 players late inthe second half of extra time.We drew Knox City FC (StateLeague 3 SE) away in Round 3. Knox had some chances in thefirst half but neither team hadreally troubled the keeper at halftime. Knox City scored two goalsearly in the second half to putpressure on OSSC.Pete Massarany headed homewith 15 minutes remaining as wepushed for an equalizer whilstbringing on another forward andgoing to three at the back.OSSC had chances but unfortunatelyKnox scored a 3rd goal with onlyminutes remaining. The finalscore was 3-1 & the lads weredisappointed not to progress to thenext round.

Outgoing President – Daniel Giesen - White

Building on the successes of past years, we have seen an influx of new (and some even exciting) players, 3 teams marginally missed out on promotion and most exciting of all, we have seen the first ever OSSC juniors take the field! As President, but also as someone who has had the club as part of their life for over a decade I can honestly say we are in great shape and the future looks bright. This is as a result of folk like yourselves: our supporters, players, coaches, wives, girlfriends, Mums, Dads and Kids. We also could not do this without our fantastic our sponsors, K2 Asset Management, Software Paradigms International (SPI), Interleasing, Hawthorn Brewing Company, Malvern Physiotherapy AB Countrywide and Cable Beach Club.

On behalf of the Club, The Committee would like to thank Daniel Giesen-White for the great year we have had and for all his efforts in his role in the 2015 Season.

Daniel is remaining on the Committee and assisting in our Juniors Program. The new Committee will be featured in our next edition.

We are in the process of finalizing our social calendar and will be able to update you of key dates/events in the near future.

Our Open Day/Legends Game is 9 April 2016 but we have many other exciting events this year including Ladies’ Day, Trivia Night, Reverse Draw and the big end of Season Presentation Night.

SOCIAL EVENTS

As you may know, we started on our journey to establishing a junior club late last season. With the support of great folk like juniors coordinator Scott Williams and our amazing coaches, Sam Shearer and Jonny Beamish we are in for another cracking year with us registering our first team in the Sunday East 7 Joeys. To make it even more interesting, our first match against the old foe St Kevins to be held at Howard Dawson reserve on Sunday at 9am. In addition to this, we have begun to organise sessions at the local schools to promote

junior soccer and OSSC in partnership with our friends at Football Star Academy. This starts on Monday the 11th when we will spend an afternoon at St Catherines Junior School running sessions and advertising the opportunity to play at the club. Juniors are a key plank in the development of OSSC and over the coming years we

will look to increase the size of the junior club. We need your ongoing support for this. If you would like to be part of this exciting new chapter, know children who would like to play soccer or have contacts at local schools who may welcome the opportunity to run sessions, please contact either Dan Giesen -White (Giesh) on 0427 326 930 or Scott Williams on 0456 188 260.
