THE MERCY, POWER, AND
LOVE OF GOD
The first reading today, from the book of Wisdom, makes its point over and over, at least five times in five verses! God is mighty, but lenient to all. God’s power is shown in kindness and clemency, not in harshness and condemna-tion, and those who govern God’s people must govern in the same way, with kindness. This
loving kindness and gentleness is not contrary to God’s might, but is a direct result of God’s primacy over all. Who are we, then, to judge what is in the hearts of our fellow Christians and all people, when God com-mands justice with love and clemency?
Likewise, the Holy Spirit makes up for our ignorance of what we need, speaking in a language we do not yet understand. But God knows our needs before we do, understands the intercessions of the Spirit, and helps us in our weakness. This is our hope: God’s mercy, power, and love.

Virtus ® “Protecting God’s Children” Full Training
Full Training will be Saturday, August 5, in the parish hall, from 1:00 to 4:00 PM. The program trains adults to be
eyes, ears, voice of children in preventing child sexual abuse. All em-ployees and volunteers whose ministry brings them into contact with children and youth must take the class.
Virtus “Keeping the Promise Alive” Recertification (Only) Training
Recertification Training will take place at Old Mission Santa Inés, in the parish hall, on Saturday, August 5, from 10:00 to 11:30AM, and Sunday, August 27, from 10:30 AM to 12 noon. You must have attend-ed the 3 hour "Protecting God’s Children" program to qualify for the Recertification Program.

The Simple Vows of Br. Marvin Abella, OFM Cap. was truly won-derful. It was the largest turnout we have had and the spirit of communi-ty was so present. Thank you Carol Money for the environment. I heard a comment, “there is so much food.” Our hospitality team provided anoth-er great reception.
Our Ministry was asked to provide dinners two nights for the Circle “V” Camp counselors and staff during the time they were gathering person-al belongings left behind during the Whittier fire evacuation. We were honored to be asked. These young men and women are hero’s in their efforts to protect the children on re-treat at the time. Thank you Jeff Sgobba for sharing your ministry of music.

“Soar with the Saints,” continues Wednesday, July 26, from 7:15 to 9:00 PM, in the upstairs confer-ence room. The movie this week "John XXIII, The Pope of Peace," is an inspiring film on Saint Pope John XXIII. This movie tells the whole life story of John XXIII. Elected as an "interim pope" who would keep the status quo, John XXIII surprised the Church and world by calling for the Second Vatican Council. Part I of the movie will be shown this week and Part II next week. Everyone is welcome. Be inspired! Share faith and fellowship.

Did you know? Brush up on water safety skills. Summer is a great time to hit the pool and take a break from the heat. It is important for parents to take a few moments to review swimming and water safety with children. Remind them to put on sunscreen. Sign children up for swim lessons or a water safety class. LA MISERICORDIA, PODER Y AMOR DE DIOS
La primera lectura de hoy, del libro de la sabiduría, hace su punto, por lo menos cinco veces en cinco versículos! Dios es poderoso, pero Clemente a todos. El poder de Di-os se muestra en la bondad y la clemencia, no en seve-ridad y la condena, y los que gobiernan el pueblo de Dios deben gobernar de la misma manera, con bondad. Esta
bondad y mansedumbre no es contraria a la fuerza de Dios, pero es un re-sultado directo de la primacía de Dios sobre todas las cosas. ¿Quiénes somos, entonces, juzgar lo que está en el corazón de nuestros compañeros cristianos y todas las personas, cuando Dios ordena la justicia con amor y clemencia? Asimismo, el Espíritu Santo suple nuestra ignorancia de lo que necesitamos, hablar en un idioma todavía no entienden. Pero Dios conoce nuestras nece-sidades antes de hacerlo, entiende las intercesiones del espíritu y nos ayuda en nuestra debilidad. Esta es nuestra esperanza: misericordia, poder y amor de Dios.
