ANNUAL MEETING OF MOUNT MORRIS LIBRARY ASSOCIATION Touring I r Carol ton* M H J Wo man's Trove/ Authority ftl<|||PeiWf>i b Winter warin ACAMMIA* D M UI# cold weatn* er of winter is another story. Here are some tips that can help you to solve your winter parking prob- lem: If the car'* not protected by a building, majce sure it's parked with itt back into the wind, radiator grill facing away from it. Cover the hood of the car with vjejee ^awwa* aa^ajajajo>#a^pajw ^p^-e* atrip of canvaa. Anchor it by catching ends be- tween the hood and the car's body. Newspaper or cardboard over the windshield and rear window pre ven ta sno w and i ce from cak i n g on the Rfaas. The windshield wipera shjpld keep the front win- dow covert from blowing away or you can buy a special vinyl plastic windshield cover. For the back window, a little cellulose tape should do the trick. During these cold winter months, the car's finish is going to take a beating. Protect it by frequent washings, then give the body a coat of ear was. Cover all the chrome trimmings with a light film of oil, and retouch rust spots with paint. If you Always park your ear dose to the house, here's a trick you may want to try: Run an ex- tension osrd from the house to your ear. At the end of the cord is an electric light bulb which you rest on the ear's engine block near the radiator. When you get up in the morning, plug the end of the cord in the house socket. The heat from the bulb will help ease cold weather starting. MT. MORRIS ENTERPRISE Wednesday, February 20, 1957 Page Seres ii P«»»»*e» Weekly Legislative DIGEST Direct From Albany By I Ion. Ira Snyder from Hemlock and Chester Haak from Livonia were also down. I am indebted to Ira and Chct for a very pleasant evening at their Fair Associa- tion dinner. As long as there are men as interested in and dedicated to the rural fairs as they are. we can all look forward to enjoying them in the future | years. Let's hope they never lose their j enthusiasm and interest and let's give i them our continued support. Sheriff • McColi and our good friend Sayre Beam j were in the Capitol attending a Sher- i iff s __ Association /meeting. Through them 1 had a chance to meet the Sheriffs from our neighboring counties. These 1 meetings are valuable to all of us for in 1 them there is an interchange of ideas | and the making of acquaintanceships. 1 i feel that we all get better law enforce- [ ment when these officials get together like this for the mutual exchange of ideas and the working out of their prob- 1 lems. i The Governor's budget is out. It is I an enormous work, consisting of two j volumes, covering 1,749 pages and ! weighing approximately six pounds. Be- tween it's pages are all the suggested State expenditures for the ensuing fiscal year. It looks and is tremendous, call- ing for the expenditure of nearly one bil- lion, six hundred million dollars. Strangely enough, it ignores the request of the low salaried State employees for at least a cost of living increase in pay. I feet that this has affected the morale of the employees at Craig Colony, The Mt. Morris Hospital and the State Arm- ory, and I believe that they are entitled to more consideration than they have been shown. I realize that the legisla- ture cannot increase the Governor's bud- get by law. but I do hope some fat can be trimmed from certain parts and used to holster up the lean sections, especially in the ca>e of the State employees. Please remember that it took a budget director with a trained staff the best hundred million dollars of this budget comes back to our local governmental units, bolstering their economy and re- lieving them of levying higher local taxes. No one likes taxes, but consider- ing the local assistance feature and the many services of the State government, is $100 per individual for the sixteen million people in the Empire State an unwarranted levy? About , the only way taxes can be lowered is to curtain services or shared monies and so far no group has asked to have their share re- duced. MRS. Albany—I was happy to see recently in Albany, Dr. Charles Greenberg from Craig Colony with whom the writer had a very pleasant Dutch-treat breakfast. Ira Snyder from Hemlock and Chester Haak from Livonia were also down. I am indebted to Ira and Chct for a very pleasant evening at their Fair Association dinner. As long as there are men as interested in and dedicated to the rural fairs as they are. we can all look forward to enjoying them in the future

| years. Let's hope they never lose their j enthusiasm and interest and let's give i them our continued support. Sheriff • McColi and our good friend Sayre Beam j were in the Capitol attending a Sher-i iff s __ Association /meeting. Through

them 1 had a chance to meet the Sheriffs from our neighboring counties. These

1 meetings are valuable to all of us for in 1 them there is an interchange of ideas | and the making of acquaintanceships. 1 i feel that we all get better law enforce-[ ment when these officials get together

like this for the mutual exchange of ideas and the working out of their prob-

1 lems. i The Governor's budget is out. It is I an enormous work, consisting of two j volumes, covering 1,749 pages and ! weighing approximately six pounds. Between it's pages are all the suggested State expenditures for the ensuing fiscal year. It looks and is tremendous, calling for the expenditure of nearly one billion, six hundred million dollars. Strangely enough, it ignores the request of the low salaried State employees for at least a cost of living increase in pay. I feet that this has affected the morale of the employees at Craig Colony, The Mt. Morris Hospital and the State Armory, and I believe that they are entitled to more consideration than they have been shown. I realize that the legislature cannot increase the Governor's budget by law. but I do hope some fat can be trimmed from certain parts and used to holster up the lean sections, especially in the ca>e of the State employees. Please remember that it took a budget director with a trained staff the best

hundred million dollars of this budget comes back to our local governmental units, bolstering their economy and relieving them of levying higher local taxes. No one likes taxes, but considering the local assistance feature and the many services of the State government, is $100 per individual for the sixteen million people in the Empire State an unwarranted levy? About , the only way taxes can be lowered is to curtain services or shared monies and so far no group has asked to have their share reduced.
