George A. Stevens, President of The Stevens Hotel Com- pany, everything necessary to the com- fort and proper entertainment of the party, which, with the choir members and their families and friends, included about 100, was provided on a generous scale. A trip around Lake Placid aboard the steamer Doris and trips by motor and carriage to John Brown's grave, High Falls and other points were among the delightful features of the visit Thirty-five members of the choir sang at th« 10:30 a. m. mass at St. Agnes' Church Sunday, mass being said by Rev. Qeorge E. Boileau of Montreal, a member of the party. A short address was made by Rev. D. N. Burke, pastor of St. Agnes' Church. Reaching Lake Placid Saturday, the party left for Montreal Monday night. The annual meeting of the New York State Fire Underwriters* Association will take place a t - the Stevens House Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday of next week Among the arrivals of the week at that hotel were William J. McConvlll of Brooklyn, Chair- man of the House Committee of the Lake Placid Yacht Club, and his mother. Mrs. C. McConvlll, who annually apend the summer there Records Brokea. Since the opening of the Grand View Hotel there has been a steady increase in the guests until with the rash follow- ing the Fourth records of previous sea- sons have been broken. More young people than usual are at the Grand View Hotel this season, and the week baa been filled with tennis matches, motor trips, mountain parties and the like. The young men at the Grand View Hotel are persistent mountain-climbers, and several have already made the ascent of Mount Whlteface. Recent arrivals there include Jacob Mohr and family, of New York; Alfred p. Ames, proprietor of the St Charles Hotel, New Orleans, and Mr. and Mrs. William O'Reilly of Youngs- town, Ohio. Upper Saranac, July &.—House parties for over the Fourth have been the rule among the campers on the Upper Sara- nac Lake, and not a few of the all- season guests at Saranac Inn have en- tertained friends there tills week. One of the largest and merriest of these par- ties was entertained by Milton C Work of Philadelphia at the Bulkley cottage, which he has leased for the summer. Included in the party were G. S Ather- ton, William B. Brown, George P. Chandler, W. P. Earnshaw, Felix Bck- ersoa, J. P. Gregg aad H. E. Keller, all of 1 Philadelphia, Chief Justice Whits, who Is with his family at The Cabin, the attractive camp adjoining Saranac Inn, has since his arrival made many firm friends among the campers and visitors at ths Inn.
