Basketball Our junior players dominated the junior basketball competition with their straight shooting. All players

scored freely with Sarah (10), Jarrod (8), James (8) and Tristan (8). A super effort from our sharp shooters. Well played. The seniors then hit the courts with Olivia and Sarah S battling it out with the boys. Both girls scored two great baskets in the last few minutes of the game. The seniors played a three team round robin. Our point scorers were Nick (13), James (8), Nathan (6), Sarah (2) and Olivia (2). Orange team led by Nick proved to be the winning team winning all four games they played. Well done seniors. Next week Nick travels to Menai (South Sydney) to play in the Hunter Team. We all wish Nick well and every success in the tournament. Keep on dribbling................. Mr D

Stewart House provides opportunities to students in a variety of ways. Please support this worthwhile event. Students ‘are’ Caring As most of you know by now the canteen was broken into on the long weekend. We were very touched when one of our students, Chloe Coble, offered to donate $10.00 of her pocket money to the canteen. Although we declined this wonderful offer I just wanted to thank her for her kind thought.

Teacher

I began my teacher training at Newcastle Teachers College and graduated in 1971. Being a bonded

student I was guaranteed a teaching position and was appointed to Canley Heights Public School in the Cabramatta area. My first class 5B had 38 students. After 7 years I was transferred to Tinonee Public School becoming the third teacher. I was put on a 4, 5, 6 class of 26 children. In 1991 I was appointed to Old Bar Public School and I have thoroughly enjoyed my teaching time here. I have a keen interest in sport in general and I have been known to have taught a few maths lessons in my time. I was married in 1972 to my beautiful wife Trish. We began our family in 1980 when Kris was born. In 1983 we were the proud parents of a little girl Jaclyn and in 1987 our youngest Anthony was born. At the moment Kris is the operations manager of MacDonald’s at Mudgee and Wellington. Jaclyn lives locally and works at the C7 scan, Taree. Anthony has begun a career as a real estate agent at Dee Why. None of the children are married and no grandchildren. In retirement I hope to travel; as to where that is in the hands of my wife Trish who at the moment is very interested in colours and jewellery. (No I won’t be making necklaces). Once again I have thoroughly enjoyed my teaching career, especially here at Old Bar Public School.

Lyn Hennessy

Teacher Librarian My name is Lyn Hennessy and I’m Teacher Librarian, 4 days a week at Old Bar Public School. I am married with four grown up children and one grandchild. Our family moved to Old Bar from Scone in 1985. My initial involvement with the school, when my children were young, was as a casual teacher and mother. Three of my four children attended Old Bar PS throughout their primary schooling and they have many fond memories of their time here.

In the early 1990, when my youngest daughter started school, I gained my Grad.Dip in Applied Science (Teacher Librarianship) and have been the Teacher Librarian at the school ever since. Most of this time has been spent in demountable libraries (although in 1985 the library was actually the wooden Multi-purpose Room that was demolished last week!) so it has been a great pleasure to move into our beautiful new Library this year! Being Teacher Librarian gives me the opportunity to get to know all of the children in the school. I love reading and particularly enjoy recommending and discussing books with the students as well as introducing them to new technologies. I consider myself very fortunate to live and work in this community!
