Dear 4-H Family,
While the busy summer has come to an end, and school has re-
sumed, I must take a moment to say THANK YOU and CONGRATU-LATIONS to ALL of our 4-H volunteers, members, and families! I have truly enjoyed watching our BLUE RIBBON KIDS throughout all that summer had to offer - camps, judgings, and the fair!
With fall just around the corner, I know many are already looking ahead to next year. As the picture above reminds you, 4-H truly does GROW TRUE LEADERS! For our 4-H teens, those who are or will be 14 or older on January 1st, many county and state opportunities for leadership development are available. Many of those applications and forms ARE DUE THIS FALL! Keep an eye out on your mailbox or inbox for more information, so that you don’t miss any important deadlines!

SENIOR 4-H MEMBERS According to our enrollment records, the following 4-H’ers have completed 10 or more years of 4-H membership and graduated from high school this spring. We certainly hope 4-H has played a role in preparing you for what lies ahead. Good luck in the next portion of your life’s journey! JUNIOR FAIR BOARD A BIG thanks to our 2016 Jr Fair Board members, who logged nearly 700 hours during this year’s Perry County Fair! Jr Fair Board members oversee the Jr Fair Headquarters, assist with Jr Fair livestock shows, sort and organize ribbons & trophies, and plan & conduct various events for Jr Fair exhibitors during fair week!
The opportunity to apply as a Jr Fair Board member is open to ANY Jr Fair exhibitor who will be 14+ as of January 1, 2017. Applications will be sent to all upcoming age-eligible 4-H members in September, with interviews later this fall. We look forward to seeing lots of great candidates! Jr Fair Board meetings are held monthly, prior to Sr Fair Board meetings at the fairgrounds. *Completing applications and participating in interviews are GREAT practice for the future!

OHIO 4-H TLC - TEEN LEADERSHIP COUNCIL The Ohio 4-H Teen Leadership Council (TLC) is a statewide group of 4-H teens and young 4-H alumni that provides a youth stakeholder perspective in the planning, implementa-tion, and evaluation of Ohio 4-H programming. In this pro-cess, council members develop knowledge, skills, attitudes, and aspirations needed for future success. Council mem-bers share advice and recommendations to 4-H profession-als in order to improve, strengthen, and expand the Ohio 4-H program. Members also make recommendations re-garding opportunities for Ohio 4-H teen programming. They serve as a sounding board for Ohio 4-H program direction.

In late September you will re-ceive a special mailing sharing all of the details for these opportunities...keep an eye out!!

- TURN IN YOUR PERRY COUNTY 4-H PARTICIPATION SHEET FOR A PRIZE! - Enclosed with this newsletter you will find the Participation Sheet. We are asking that EVE-RY club complete and return a Participation Sheet, so that our office can be more in-tune with what clubs are doing, and where there is room for education & improvement. Clubs accumulating at least 180 points will be recognized as Honor Clubs, which comes with additional recognition & incentive for your club! Submit your Participation Sheet by October 15th to the Extension Office!
- RECOGNITION - the 4-H Advisory Committee is in the process of finalizing plans for Volunteer Recognition events this fall. Keep an eye out for invitations coming soon!

The Perry County 4-H Committee held its 9th Annual Golf Outing to raise money for the Perry County 4-H Program on Saturday, June 4th at the Whitetail Ridge Golf Club. First place went to the McLain, Hill, Rugg & Associates team, 2nd place was Madison Jr. Farmers 4-H, and the Bobcat Enterprises team took 3rd. LIVESTOCK SALE COMMITTEE $CHOLARSHIP$
The Livestock Sale Committee will continue to offer scholarships for market livestock exhibitors who are en-rolled in college this fall. To be eligible, youth must have exhibited a market project animal in 2016 and 2015, have graduated high school and be enrolled in an accredited post-secondary institution. $5000 will be equal-ly divided amongst all applicants, with a maximum of $300 for any individual scholarship. Applications are
available from the Extension Office, any FFA instructor, and online at www.perry.osu.edu. Applications are due to the Extension Office no later than January 1, 2017.
