Assuring Quality Care for Animals/ Quality Assurance Information• Ohio 4-H and the Ohio Department of Agriculture discussed some changes for this year that will help

mitigate the effects the corona virus is having on holding in-person programming. For livestock quality assurance (QA) for the 2020 year only:

• QA must still be completed before the opening day of exhibition, however the 45-day prior to the opening of the exhibition requirement will not be enforced.

• FFA & 4-H Youth livestock exhibitors (8-18) may take the online Youth for the Quality Care of Animals (YQCA) certification for $12. CLICK HERE for a $9 COUPON for April. Visit https://yqca.learngrow.io/ and create an Independent Sign-In account. Be sure to select Web-Based Training and read the description of the course carefully to make sure the individual associated with the account meets the requirements based on age. Participants must pass 3 quizzes to get certified: Animal Well-Being, Food Safety and Life Skills. Be sure to print a copy of the certificate to a PDF and submit it to the Extension Office.

• Details regarding Virtual County QA sessions will be shared soon. Pre-registration required. Multiple dates will be offered!

• Youth 12-years of age and older may choose to test-out by contacting the Extension Office after April 30.

• These requirements should be met by June 1.

The recipient of the 2020 Ohio 4-H Meritorious Service Award is 𝗔𝗔𝗡𝗡𝗡𝗡𝗠𝗠𝗔𝗔𝗥𝗥𝗥𝗥𝗜𝗜𝗦𝗦𝗢𝗢𝗡𝗡 from Ashtabula County. She has been a mainstay in our county programs for 53 years. Her first 4-H group was established

as a county-wide club for teens interested in making and tailoring coats and jackets. Throughout the years, her club expanded to include youth interested in sewing, cooking and quilting projects. She served as a counselor for the Ohio 4-H Club Congress, attended North Central Region Leader Forums and served

on the State Extension Advisory Committee. She is in her twenty-fifth year as chair of the Ashtabula County Extension Advisory Committee. Since 2012, Ann has been a tireless planning committee member

and instructor for the county's Agricultural Awareness Day. Her positive impact and support of 4-H has been shared and passed on to youth; many of her former 4-H'ers now serve in leadership capacities

across the county and state. Congratulations to this #TrueLeader!

Pictured above is Ann receiving her 50-year award at the Ohio 4-H Conference and recognition with her club at the County Fair.
