JUDGE BIOS MS. VIRGINIA (Ginny) LYNE Saanichton, B.C., Canada

Virginia Lyne grew up in many different countries, following her father who was involved in the oil business. She was born in Borneo and lived in Trinidad, Australia, Jamaica, Colombia and Texas. After college and after a year in Great Britain, she came home with a black and white English Cocker who became the foundation of Ranzfel English Cockers. Obedience attracted her initially and she taught classes for many years. Breeding continued under the Ranzfel prefix with many champions and best in show winners being successful in both Canada and the USA. Ms. Lyne's life work was education. She retired in 1997 after 35 years in secondary school education, teaching English and working as a guidance counselor. Probably as a result of this background, she is totally committed to judges’ education and has been active in seminar presentations and judges training for many years. In 1969, she started conformation judging with the Sporting breeds and is currently approved to judge All Breeds in Canada. She is the past president of the Canadian Dog Judges Association and has served on several committees for the Canadian Kennel Club. She has judged in many countries and is very active in Canada and the USA. Her assignments have included the Sporting Group at the Westminster Kennel Club and she will judge the Westminster Hound Group in 2016. She has judged many National Specialties including: Samoyed, English Cockers, Golden Retrievers, Labrador Retrievers, Clumber Spaniels, Pointers, German Shorthaired and , German Wirehaired Pointers, Vizslas, Curly Coated Retriever, French Bulldogs, and Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retrievers. In 2016 she is judging the Australian Terrier National Specialty. . Her many prestigious assignments included Cocker Championship shows in the UK, Newfoundland Specialty in Germany, Cavaliers of The West for the foundation club of the Cavaliers a well as the AKC Invitational shows, Santa Barbara Kennel Club, Westchester Kennel Club, and many other AKC shows.. Virginia Lyne May 2015 Diane Fast My journey with purebred dogs began over 20 years ago when I was looking to purchase a Dalmatian. I was looking for a pet but the only dog available was a show potential. One time in the ring and I was hooked. I breed Dalmatians under the kennel name SpecialD. Although I have not bred often I like to think that I have bred for quality. I have had a total of 4 litters of which I have produced a total of 11 Canadian Champions, 3 American Champions, of those champions there have been several MBPIS, MPBISS and MBIS and BISS show dogs of both liver and white and black and white variety. I have also dabbled in Obedience and Rally Obedience with my Dalmatians – and I am enjoying that very much. I co-breed Whippets under the kennel name Aikerskaill. I consider myself incredibly fortunate to be a member of the Aikerskaill Whippet family and now share my home with 4 whippets. I am honoured to have been asked to judge sweeps at this years’ Weimaraner Regional Specialty.

a) An annual non-member participation fee for awards and titles will be charged to a Canadian non-member of CKC. The fee is $57.60 + 5% GST. b) In order to protect the awards/titles earned, the non-member will have a choice either to become a CKC member or to pay the non-member participation fee. Cheques dated after close of entries will not be accepted. Returned cheques & declined credit cards will be assessed a $25.00 service charge (Chapter 8.8, C.K.C. Dog Show Rules). Greyhound entries must be prepaid for delivery and will not be picked up. Please do not send entries by Registered Mail. To comply with instructions issued by the Canadian Kennel Club, we will be unable to accept any entry reaching our Show Secretary after the closing time and date. Please allow ample time for delays in the mail. ATTENTION FOREIGN EXHIBITORS: Please note that fees are due and payable in Canadian dollars. Due to consistently fluctuating currency rates, discounted cheques will not be accepted. Personal Cheques will be accepted, however, they are to be payable in Canadian funds. If you send a cheque in US funds, it must be made out for the full amount of the entry and no exchange will be refunded to the exhibitor. Please do not mark cheques “Payable in Canadian Funds” or “At Par”. They will not be cleared by the banks. CLASSIFICATIONS

The following CKC classes (divided by sex and by coat variety) will be provided:

BABY PUPPY dogs between 3 months and under 6 months on day of show . These puppies are not eligible to compete for championship points. Puppies in this category may enter and compete in Sweepstakes.

JUNIOR PUPPY dogs between 6 months and under 9 months on day of show SENIOR PUPPY dogs between 9 months and under 12 months on day of show 12-18 MONTHS dogs between 12 months and under 18 months on day of show CANADIAN BRED Dogs born in Canada. Champions of any country are excluded. BRED BY EXHIBITOR dogs owned and handled in the ring by the breeder for this class, but need

not handle the dog for further awards. OPEN CLASS for all dogs VETERAN CLASS for all dogs over 7 years of age on day of specialty. The winners of the

Veteran Male and Female classes will not compete for Championship points but go directly into the BEST OF BREED competition. (they do not compete for Winners). Dogs in this class may be spayed/neutered.

SPECIALS ONLY dogs who are Canadian Champions. A CKC Registration Number or ERN must be indicated on the entry form at time of closing.

EXHIBITION ONLY dogs entered in this class may not compete in any Regular class but may enter and compete in Non-Regular classes and/or Parades if provided for in this premium list.

EXHIBITION ONLY (3-6 MONTHS)

puppies 3-6 months of age may be entered in Exhibition Only 3-6 Months provided the owner(s) has entered a dog in a Regular Official Class. These Puppies may not participate in any regular, non-regular or unofficial classes or Parades

NON-REGULAR & UNOFFICIAL CLASSES All dogs must be entered in the regular classes, Veteran's class, "Specials Only", or for Exhibition Only to compete in the following non-regular classes. Dogs may be spayed or neutered.

BRACE Two dogs not necessarily of the same sex or owner. Must be handled by one person on one lead and should be judged as an identical pair. Dogs may be spayed/neutered

STUD DOG & GET Stud dog & Get - shall be comprised of the stud dog and 2 or more of his get. Ownership in this class need not be identical. The stud dog may be sexually altered and must be entered in a Regular class or in Exhibition Only. Get must be entered in a Regular class.

BROOD BITCH & PROGENY

Brood Bitch and two or more of her Progeny. Same stipulations as for Stud Dog and Get apply to this classification.

Award of Merit -This award will be made after the Best of Breed judging. One Award of Merit is offered at the discretion of the judge for every 10 dogs competing at the Best of Breed level Best Canadian Bred in Breed Field Dog Dogs must have obtained a CKC Field Test/Trial title or a WAC/WCA Ratings title or a NAVHDA title and must be entered in a regular class or for exhibition only to compete in this class Long Hair Dogs must be of the Longhair variety and must be entered in a regular class or for exhibition only to compete in this class

GENERAL INFORMATION 1. Dog Show Rule books and Obedience Trial regulations are available from the Canadian Kennel

Club. Cost is $6.30 per copy + 13% Ontario HST. 2. The Show Superintendent will be in full charge of the show which will be governed by CKC rules.

All rules and regulations, as outlined in the Alberta Kennel Club premium list, will also apply to this specialty.

3. Entries will be acknowledged after entry closing, with receipt, judging schedule and exhibitor passes. If such acknowledgement is not received one week before the show date, please contact the Show Secretary.

4. “It shall be the duty and obligation of the show-giving club to see that a judge, club official, volunteer or any participant at an event held under these rules is not subject to indignities” – CKC rule book, Section 19.7

CHAMPIONS AND CHAMPIONSHIP POINTS Chapter 20 – Dog Show Rules: Champions and Championship Points Section 1. A dog awarded WINNERS at a championship show held under these dog show rules shall be credited with a number of championship points (ranging from 0-5) and the determination of the number of championship points to be credited to a dog awarded WINNERS shall be as provided hereunder:

The schedule to be employed in the determination of the number of points allocated to a dog awarded WINNERS shall be as follows: Dogs Competing* 1 2 3 to 5 6 to 9 10 to12 15 or more Points Awarded 0 1 2 3 4 5 *includes dog awarded WINNERS To determine the number of championship points by a dog awarded WINNERS, total of all the dogs in competition which the dog defeated, directly or indirectly, for the highest of the following official breed awards: Best of Winners, Best of Breed, or Best of Opposite Sex, and then consult the schedule set forth above. In counting the number of eligible dogs in competition, a dog that is disqualified, dismissed, excused or ordered from the ring by the judge shall NOT be included in the calculation for championship points.

In order for a dog to be recognized as a Champion and its owner provided with Championship Certificate the dog must have earned at least one 2 point win either at a breed or group level. To earn a Canadian Championship, a dog must earn at least ten championship points under at least three different judges, and be Individually registered with the Canadian Kennel Club, or have a C.K.C. EVENT REGISTRATION NUMBER (ERN) and have 1 two point win from the Breed or Group level.
