This circular addresses the requirement of training of marine engineering personnel having management responsibilities for the operation and safety of electrical po*L. plants above lO00 volts, as specified in SectionA/III-1, A/ILI-2, A/lll-6 &Blil/2 of the STCW Code 2010 (Manila Amendments). This training is applicable to engineering officers and electro- technical officers/electrical officers intending to work on merchant ships fitted with electrical power plants above 1000 volts. 3. The course curriculum for tle High Voltage Safety and Switch Gear Course for Electro Technical Officers as per the STCW 2010 Amendments was notified in the Annex II of the DGS, GOI Training Circular No.1 of 2011 dated 10.02.11. 4. Further, the Director General of Shipping, GoI has decided that this course can be conducted as a modular course, and approved maritime training institutes which are eligibte to conduct this course may apply for an approval thereof on the basis of the following guidelines. 5. The details of the course are as follows: 5.1 Name of the said course : High Voltage Safety and Switch Gear Course (HV-ETO) 5.2 5.3 5.4 Course ID Duration of Course : Eligibility : 169 50 hours (6 working days) : Maritime Training Institutes approved by the DGS, GoI for the conduct of 1. Pre-sea ETO course or 2. Bridging course for ETO; or 3. MEO Class II course; or 4. MEO Class I course are eligible to apply for this course.
