FINEPRINT October 2016 #366 Hastings Valley Fine Art Association Inc. PO Box 8044 Port Macquarie 2444 www.hastingsvalleyart.net.au HVFAA Website The website is a great tool to get your work shown and sold. To make that easier and more available for everyone, we have an images information sheet and a paintings register which has been sent by email and is available at the gallery. The images information sheet is just some helpful information that should make it easier for everyone, when preparing and saving images to go on the website.(e.g size of images sent, file types etc) The website paintings register is an easy form to fill out and it will provide all the details and information that is required about each work of art. Note: you still have to sign the Artist Agreement and have paid the $20 if you wish to sell your art.(see May 2016 Fineprint) The paintings register and your images can be emailed to me at [email protected]. Alternatively, If you have saved your images on a USB stick or a disc and you have attached the filled in form, I am happy to collect them from the gallery (if you let me know you have left it there) or you can post it to me at 4 the Summit Port Macquarie. Kim McLean Website Administrator Presidents Report for October 2016 Hello Members , The committee will be sending you a questionnaire shortly asking for your views on the direction we should be heading in the future as part of our strategic plan. It will ask a number of questions for your response to help us involve the membership in our plan forward such as your thoughts on workshops, exhibitions, bus trips, and changes to the gallery, youth training grant, and what other activities you want. The survey will be sent electronically and we ask you to give it proper consideration and respond. Our Christmas party will be on again this year and following the success of last year it will be at the park behind the Gallery again. The committee will supply the barbequed meats, members can bring a plate of savoury, sweet or salad and their own drinks. It will be on the 6 th of December at 12.00 pm further details will be in November Fine Print. The Planning of our eleventh Summer Showcase is well under way with an increase this year of sponsorship and a promise by the club to provide hot food on the opening night to make up for the debacle last year. With the results announced of the Confluence exhibition at the Manning gallery in November some members works didn’t get chosen. I invite them to enter their work into the Summer Showcase Exhibition including the second paintings that were entered. They could either enter into the open section or one of the sections that represent their mediums. We are hoping that this year’s judge will be Bridget Purtill assistant curator at the Glasshouse Regional Gallery. It was decided that we will attempt to have our Have Brush Will Travel again at Gloucester next year from the 13 th to the 19 th of March we will give out more information closer to the time but pencil it in and come and enjoy a week away with some of the nicest people with high art skills and great story telling abilities you are ever likely to meet. Last but not least Congratulations to our lovely editor Maria Nolan for receiving first prize at the Adelaide Swift Exhibition for her still life in the oil / Acrylic Section. The Adelaide Swift Award was won by Gordon Rossiter. Brian Barker Adelaide Swift Memorial Art Awards SW Rocks (on until 8 October) Congratulations to our successful HVFAA members: Open Section: Commended: Susie Gunn “Macleay Valley” Acrylics/oils: First Prize: Maria Nolan “The Red Teapot” Watercolour: Highly commended: Roger Speight “A Perfect Day” Pastel: Highly commended: Sue Burrows “Bush Boulders” Drawing Commended: Jill Cairns “Falling Waters” Other Mediums Highly commended: Kim Madden “unnamed landscapeA delighted Maria Nolan accepts the congratulations and her 1 st place award from Isobel Hermann who established the Adelaide Swift Memorial Trust in 1999 and who has been actively involved in the bi-annual exhibition since.
