Fall has arrived and another summer season is in the books. It was a good summer, with various new groups and sporting events in the market. While occupancy was off a bit year over year, room rates are creeping up, and overall revenue is up about 4% from last year. Additionally, as of September, hotel occupancy is up over 6% from last year. Word is that fall and winter are looking good so far, and 2014 will bring even more new groups and sporting event to town. We have settled in well to our new Downtown Stockton location in the historic B&M Building. The floor above us is now occupied by the Downtown Stockton Alliance and the bottom floor should be ready for occupancy soon. The location and partnership are a good fit for the SCVB and for Stockton. Thank you to all who were able to attend our open house and ribbon cutting on October 17th. We had a great crowd with tons of positive energy and excitement. We hope you will be able to join us at our annual holiday gathering at the Haggin Museum on Tuesday, December 10th from 5:30pm to 7:30pm. Our team always welcomes your input, feedback, and participation in the marketing and promotion of Stockton. If you have any ideas, questions, or comments about our efforts, please do not hesitate to reach out to us. Things are looking up in Stockton and we are hearing more and more positive feedback about our great city. If you would like to take your team’s positive energy to another level, be sure to sign them up for our Stockton Tourism Ambassador Program. We have had a great response to the program and everyone who receives the certification leaves with a stronger set of tools and resources to better serve our visitors. We wish you a productive and prosperous quarter ahead!
