Huddle is on an exciting journey that will continue to improve the usability and overall experience of using Huddle, making it even easier for you to work with your colleagues, partners and clients. Why are we doing this? The feedback and the insight gained from talking to our users is crucial to how our product and design team make decisions about where, what and how we should improve Huddle. USER EXPERIENCE IMPROVEMENTS - 2017

What’s happening?Huddle is on an exciting journey that will continue to improve the usability and overall experience of using Huddle, making it even easier for you to work with your colleagues, partners and clients.

Why are we doing this? The feedback and the insight gained from talking to our users is crucial to how our product and design team make decisions about where, what and how we should improve Huddle. In recent months we’ve been testing our new designs with users and were encouraged by their feedback and have already started incorporating these changes into Huddle itself.

What will change?Over the coming year, you will continue to notice some changes being applied to the look and feel of Huddle on the Web. For the most part, the changes will be enhancements to look and feel, re-organising how information is presented on the screen and simplifying interactions within the core feature set of Huddle.

This document will be updated on an ongoing basis to communicate all important changes to Huddle’s interface only (general release notes can be found here).

October 2017 – Navigation & responsive Web App changesStatus: Planned release in early to mid November 2017

Navigation changes

In this release we are making an important change that affects the way you navigate between and within workspaces.

What does this mean?

Your workspaces, which are currently accessed in the “global navigation” bar of Huddle at the top of the screen, will now be displayed on the left side of the screen (we call this the “navigation sidebar”). This means you will see the names of other workspaces you’re part of and be able to quickly move between them.

Once you have navigated to any given workspace, the sub navigation for the workspace itself (Files/Folders/Tasks/People/etc) will also be displayed on the left along with the other workspaces you have access to.

Clicking the name of any workspace listed in the sidebar navigation panel will take you to the overview for that workspace. If the workspace overview is not enabled for the given workspace, you will be taken automatically to the next available feature (E.g. Files)

If you are a member of more than 6 workspaces, there will be a link (as shown via the annotations above) to enable you to "Show all" remaining workspaces you have access to.

Clicking the 'Workspaces' or 'Show all' link will show the full list of all workspaces you’re in and easily filter them by name (as exists on Huddle today).

You will be able to add new workspaces and invite new users from the sidebar navigation as shown below.

Responsive web app changesThis release will deliver another key evolution of our UX vision, making core parts of our web app 'responsive' to different screens. Applying responsive behaviour to Huddle means we are able to make full use of the screen space available on your laptop or monitor, maximising the working area and presenting content to you in an optimal way.

Small screens – how it will work

The contents of Huddle will expand horizontally to fill the screen. To maximise the working area of smaller screens, the navigation sidebar will be collapsed by default and can be opened by clicking the menu button below the dashboard (home) icon as shown below.

Medium & large screens - how it will work

As with small screens, the contents of Huddle will expand horizontally to fill the space available on wider screens, maximising the working area as seen in the examples above.

Change to branding when working within the Files tab

When working with files and folders (in the 'Files' navigation tab) we’ve removed the branded area at the top the page. Your content and actions are easier to access at a glance, allowing you to get to work faster.

Company and Workspaces branding continues to exist in all other areas of Huddle as it does today. Your ability to brand and customise Workspaces is of utmost importance to us and we are exploring different ways of improving the overall branding experience for our customers.

June 2017 - Global navigation & Files UX improvementsStatus: Released on 28 June 2017

In this release, we’ve updated the look of the global navigation bar, increased the size of the file preview and made other some tweaks to how we present information when you view files.
