What a wonderful Revival! The Lord moved through us, through the music,
through the Pastors, and we expect the Lord to continue to move. The purpose
of a Revival is to awaken our hearts and spirits for what the Lord is about to do.
Too often, revival’s fire burns out because we aren’t willing to take the next
step. The musicians and speakers challenged us to live for God and share the
good news of Jesus Christ in our lives. There is a purpose for us and a call over
our lives. It’s an equipping call that Christ has for us where Christ intends to
use us to accomplish His will for our lives. The Pastors spoke about stepping
out in faith and trusting God to guide us to where He wants us to be.
The steps we take are up to us, however. We can choose to remain where we
are, and our lives will continue to be what they already are. Or, we can choose
to take a step of faith, trusting that God is speaking to us in new ways, and call-
ing us to serve Him. How many times have you ignored or explained away the
call of Christ? Do you recall having a stirring of the spirit inside of you that
urged you to do something for Christ? Have you turned down the call of minis-
try in order to do other things? We as people are very adept at doing what we
want. When we put our minds to something, we have a great history of success
in achieving it. But, what if we devoted ourselves to the ministries and callings
of God? What if Bethlehem became a church that served God above all things?
What if we totally surrendered to the Holy Spirit and put ourselves in His
hands? How would we be different? How would you be different?
That’s what revival is all about. It’s about a new awakening—a new encour-
agement for your soul that sets you free to do the service of God. When we en-
counter Jesus Christ, He changes us, transforms us, and sets us free to serve
Him. We don’t ever become who we used to be. We are transformed by His
grace in order to serve Him to our fullest. Some of us have experienced that
grace in our missions and calls. Some of us have never fully said “Yes” to fol-
lowing Him and surrendering to Him. Why not take that step of faith, kneel in
surrender to Him, and allow Him to send you where He has called you. Not
only will you (gladly) never be the same, but also our world will be better for it.
Let’s serve Him together! ~ Pastor Matt

Wednesday Night Pastor’s Class Discipline—a word often associated with parenting or the military—establishes boundaries and allows appropriate formation of a desired result. Military regiments require discipline for the soldiers to know what to expect from one another. Parents require discipline from their children so they behave in appropriate ways. Well-rounded students have discipline in their studies so that they learn and know the subject matter. Christian faith has discipline in it as well. For two millennia, Christians have practiced spiritual disciplines to help focus their minds and bodies on the lordship of Jesus Christ. Most of us have heard of spiritual disciplines (such as fasting) but we may have never practiced them. We are learning about spiritual disciplines and try practicing some of them as we meet on Wednesday nights. We’ve just started, so it’s not too late to join us. We’ll start at 6:30 each Wednesday night—we meet in the choir room. Come and join us as you’re able.

Missions Committee Request
The Missions Committee is asking for contribu-
tions of paper and plastic products which will be
given to the Mid-Atlantic Teen Challenge, a
home for troubled adolescent boys. Their needs
are paper towels, toilet paper, plates, forks,
spoons, etc. There will be a box in the hall be-
hind the sanctuary. We thank you in advance for
your support. We will collect these items until
the Harvest Fest on October 26.
Military Mail Call
This will be our 50th year of Military Mail Call. All
Christmas military messages on either 8 1/2 X 5 1/2 paper
or Christmas cards will be mailed from church on No-
vember 10, 2014. Your cards should be placed in a desig-
nated box in the back hallway, NO later that Nov. 9th.
(We need to prepare for mailing.)
Instructions and examples will be displayed at this box.
One Chaplain wrote, “for many this may be their only
Christmas greetings”. They are defending us, so let’s sup-
port them with uplifting and encouraging messages.
Any questions contact Edna Daniel 539-9429.
Again this year, the Women’s Fellowship has received dolls from the Salvation Army to be dressed for a little
girl’s Christmas. We encourage everyone to participate in this mission. You may pick up the doll/s outside
the Church Secretary’s office. We ask you to give us your name, phone number and the number of dolls you
take to dress.
We have 100 dolls to dress and I have contacted Mary Hyatt (539-0759), who will be making outfits for $5.00
each again this year. Mrs. Hyatt was contacted so she would have an idea of how many outfits we may
need. If you plan to have more than one outfit for the doll you are dressing, please let us know when you pick
up the doll/s.
Below are the instructions/guidelines to dress the dolls.
If you have any questions, please contact Doris Johnson at 630-8343 or Laverne, Church Secretary at 539-
4274.
Thank you for your help in making a child’s Christmas memorable.
Guidelines for Dressing the Salvation Army Dolls
THINK SAFETY: Avoid use of either straight or safety pines. Sew-on safety snap fasteners or Velcro are
good for closures. Buttons are acceptable if sewn securely. Necklaces and earrings are cute, but could find
their way into a small child’s mouth. Please, no corsage pins. The heads of pins may be pulled off, which can
expose a needle like pin in the dolls ear. We do check all dolls for safety.
DOLL OUTFITS: Outfits may be crochet, knit, hand/machine sewn or store bought. Please make outfits big
enough for ease of dressing by little hands. Avoid sewing garments on dolls. The fun of playing with dolls is
in dressing them. Extra outfits are welcomed!
WE ARE ASKING THAT ALL DOLLS BE RETURNED TO THE CHURCH OFFICE NO LATER THAN
DECEMBER 8, 2014.

H e a r t f e l t T h a n k Y o u N o t e s !
Dear Friends,
On behalf of The Salvation Army
and those we serve, we would like to
say thank you for all your help with
serving delicious meals to those in
the community. We know it is only
through dedicated people like you
that that these meals and events are
able to happen. Many of you have
been serving the Soup Kitchen for
more than 10 years and some are
new, but new or old, we all have one
thing in common: feeding and serv-
ing the community. Again, I thank
you all for the work you do and the
loving-kindness you extend to others.
Sincerely,
Your Friends at the
Salvation Army

Dear Church Family,
We wanted to send a quick note
to say thank you so very much for all
of your love, warm wishes, and sup-
port you gave to us as our daughter,
Megan, was Christened on the 14th
of September. Rev. Winters, we ap-
preciate the time you took to help
us. Your dedication made the occa-
sion a joyous one. Bethlehem
Church family, you welcomed us with
open arms, and we will forever cher-
ish that day!
Sincerely,
Mike and Janet
Jasewicz
Food Pantry Ministry
The Food Pantry is
in need of addi-
tional volunteers
to help. We need
drivers with trucks
or other vehicles
to go to the Food Bank and bring the food to
the church. Then we need muscles to get the
food into the pantry closet. If you can help
with these tasks, please contact Doris Johnson
at 630-8343 ASAP. Thank you for helping!
Picture Directories
A special thank you to the
Picture Directory Committee!
They did a great job of bring-
ing everything together for
the directories. They are very
attractive and should service
us well.
If you would like to have a
directory, they are available
for pick-up after worship services and/or in the
church office. We should have enough for every-
one that wants one, so please be patient with us
as we get them into your homes.

We resolve to love...We unite to serve.
Get to Know: Mike and Janet Jasewicz
Janet joined Bethlehem on Sunday, August 31. We wanted to help you get to know Janet and
her family, and we asked them to share a bit about themselves. Help us welcome them to the
Bethlehem Family! Janet grew up in and has been a life-long resident of Suffolk. Her hus-
band, Michael "Mike", grew up in upstate New York. They have a fourteen month old daugh-
ter, Megan. Janet earned her degrees and worked at SunTrust bank, but became a stay at
home mom and a Pampered Chef Consultant when Megan was born. Janet also has a pas-
sion for photography and never goes anywhere without her camera. She is also hoping to
learn to play the hand bells here at Bethlehem. Mike graduated from Clarkson and is a Me-
chanical Engineer and Metallurgist. He loves to cook and put himself through school by utiliz-
ing his cooking skills. They often joke that he should be the Pampered Chef Consultant! Mike
has a passion for rebuilding cars and computers, but seems to be more well known for his holi-
day lights synchronized to music display. His nickname is the "Penguin Guy". They live in
Oak Ridge and love to mingle with neighbors, bike ride, garden, and go camping/
Rving. Megan enjoys playing with their two dogs, finger painting, banging on the piano,
splashing in the pool and books. We welcome Janet and her family to Bethlehem and can't
wait to get to know them more.
