automotive industry. It seemsall too appropriate then, thatthis year’s Hall of Fame Inducteeis the Carter Automotive Fam-ily. While the company hasn’tquite been around since the1920s, it has been a mainstay ofthe Burnaby business commu-nity since 1968 when, operat-ing out of makeshift tents, theyhad the foresight to see Burnabyfor what it has become today—agreat place to do business.
Mayor Derek Corrigan, whopersonally inducted the CarterAutomotive Family into the Hallof Fame, noted that “an Inducteeis not chosen solely on the basisof longevity but based on theirreputation and their contribu-tion to the community.”
Bill Mitchell, president ofthe Carter Automotive Fam-ily, remarked that on behalfof the entire company he was“humbled and honoured” bythe induction. Addressing thecrowd of company owners,presidents, directors and CEOs,he expressed his fondness forBurnaby, stating, “You have allmade a wise choice calling theCity of Burnaby home.” MCs Fiona Forbes and Michael Eckford

Return-It Depots reach an all-timehigh in customer satisfaction
return-it.ca
ADVERTORIAL
The cornerstone of the Return-It™system is the 172 independently
owned and operated depots acrossBritish Columbia. In addition tobeverage containers, many depotsalso collect milk and milk sub-stitute containers and unwantedelectronics. Encorp extends beyonddepots with mobile collectorswho service multi-family dwellings,office buildings and other largeinstitutions.
Every depot is a thrivingenterprise, often family-operated,that provides business andemployment opportunities incommunities across BC. Beinggood for the environment can alsomean being good for the economy.
Changing with the timesDepots have changed over theyears. In the 1990’s, most depotswere located in industrial areas,and were more like warehouses thanconsumer facilities. The emphasiswas on storage and shipping, notthe consumer experience. Recog-nizing the importance of a positivecustomer environment, Encorp hastaken steps to modernize theReturn-It Depot by creating the5 Star Return-It Depot Program.
To ensure customers get thebest possible recycling experience,depots focus on service, cleanliness,design and comfort. Today’s depot isclean, bright and open with largetables available for sorting.
Research indicates the publichas noticed. Nearly all consumers(94%) who have recently visiteda depot are satisfied with theirexperience.
See for yourself. Visit return-it.ca/locations to find the depotnearest you.
