Supporting our Nation’s deployed U.S. Troops is a gift we give ourselves as they serve on our behalf! We support ourNation’s Troops asking nothing in return except for the honor of letting them know they are never forgotten!

There are approximately 35 male Soldiers in your US Army Platoon and they are deployed from Colorado toAfghanistan.

Please do not expect responses back in a timely manner due to the nature of their job. Just know that the support andletters that you do send are worth their weight in gold!

About Your Platoon: This is an Infantry Platoon with 4th Infantry Division; they’re located in southern Afghanistanand operate in a fairly remote area supporting the locals and Afghan National Army. Because they are so remote, theyare separated internally and don’t have many luxuries. Your support will be great way to help build morale within theplatoon.

CONDITIONS: Your Soldiers are located on a remote base with no running water, using bottled water for drinking &cleaning and power is 220V. There is NO PX Store and NO Chow Hall. They use a cook trailer to heat pre-mademeals and depend on care packages for needed items & snacks.

REQUESTS: Basic care package supplies including non-perishable healthy pocket snacks (nuts, seeds,power/protein/granola bars, dried fruits, jerky, short slim jims, trail mixes), drink mix singles, crackers, cheese(Velveeta travels well), beef summer sausage, foods that can be made with hot water like pasta, ramen noodles, cup onoodles, pop-top canned food (fruits, pasta etc), ready to eat meals, tuna pouches, pop tarts, cookies, travel size hygieneproducts, bath wipes, baby wipes, hand sanitizer gel/wipes, foot powder, nail clippers/files, soft toilet paper, blanketsand anything to help boost Soldier’s morale: lots of letters/mail, current magazines, Comics, DVD’s, Music CD’s,board games, sports balls, Frisbees, assorted puzzle books, dartboard w/extra darts, blank greeting cards to send home, pens etc. Cold Weather Needs: Clothing such as undershirts, black, army green or brown winter boot socks, blackmittens or gloves, blankets and hand/foot warmers.Special Request: X-Box and PS3 games. The game systems were donated by our own soldiers. They just need gamesto play on them. Please send hygiene items separate from food items.

OPERATION CRAYON SCHOOL SUPPORT: Your Soldiers are trying to help repair the only school building intheir area and would appreciate any school supplies that you can send in your care packages… paper, pencils, pens, crayons, book bags, children’s clothing (grade 1-8), chalk, glue sticks etc. They are hoping to have the buildingrepaired by Fall when school should start again.

The commitment you embrace on behalf of our Troops is very difficult when Troops themselves are in a situationwhere they cannot respond to their supporters. But know that you are making a difference and when the Troops receiveyour gifts, letters and cards, it raises morale and puts a smile on their faces! OUR TROOPS ARE DEPENDING ONUS!

CARE PACKAGE IDEAS & MAILING INFORMATION:There are certain care package items our deployed Troops want and need most. Please visit the AAP website atwww.adoptaplatoon.org and click on CARE PACKAGE IDEAS & MAILING INFORMATION.

Restrictions for military mail that cannot be sent to the Troops include:

Obscene articles in the form of prints, paintings, cards, films, videotapes, etc.

Any matter depicting nude or seminude persons, pornographic or sexual items, or non-authorized political

materials.

Bulk quantities of religious materials contrary to the Islamic faith cannot be sent. Items for the personal use

of the addressee are permissible if a Service Member in your assigned Platoon/Unit has requested religious

publications / materials.

Pork or pork by-products are not allowed. Do not send products packaged in glass.

Use zip lock type baggies to add a bit more protection when sending foods. Send only pre-packaged, store

bought food products.

We thank you with all our hearts for helping to ensure that our U.S. Service Members are not forgotten and beingamong those who defend the freedoms of our country. THANK YOU FOR BEING A PART OF THEADOPTAPLATOON PATROITIC TEAM WHO STAND BEHIND OUR TROOPS! God Bless our Peace Makers!

TACNIGP Purchasing Conference October 11, 2011 Room A-2 State and Local Government Virtual Summit - The Real Impact of Lean Government 1-2pm Time to Hang Up on PBX? Powerful Solutions and Savings around Unified

Communications and VOIP Presented by Dean Iacovelli, Microsoft For government agencies, budgets may rise and fall with economic cycles, but financial circumstances do not change citizen expectations. People count on government to maintain excellent service delivery, from processing permits to maintaining public safety. Microsoft unified communications solutions can play a huge role, enabling new and more efficient ways of working that can drive down the costs of providing government services. You can meet your people’s need for connectivity and communication with integrated features like instant messaging (IM) and presence indicators that help them connect easily, work together, and share information on demand from within the applications they use every day. And you can create a complete enterprise VoIP telephony solution that can enhance, extend, or completely replace PBX systems. See how government at all levels can communicate better and work together from virtually anywhere, around the clock 2-3pm Obstacles and Opportunities: Leverage New Technologies to Better Deliver Public

Services Presented by Scott Villinski, Microsoft With the explosion of smart phones, tablets, and other powerful gadgets, your colleagues and constituents are accessing information and services in new and increasingly diverse ways. This may have you feeling overwhelmed with how to keep your data secure, meet the increasing demand for ubiquitous Wi-Fi, develop mobile applications, and so forth. See how you can turn these obstacles into opportunities. 3-4pm Here, There, and Everywhere: Enabling Government Workers through Mobile Technology Presented by Dale Michalk and Michael Hacker, Microsoft On any given day, the “workplace” for government people might be a community event, a school, a police cruiser, a citizens’ living room, or some other “remote” site. In the past, government employees were isolated when out in the field. With the challenges facing government today, that has to change. Your community’s interests and the security of its citizens can’t wait until workers “get back to the office.” To do their jobs and support the mission, they need immediate access to the same information, applications, and resources as their colleagues back at headquarters. It’s just about equipping your people with mobile devices; it’s about extending equal enterprise access to all of your employees, no matter where they might be. Learn how Microsoft can help you achieve your missions by giving your employees enterprise mobility. 4-5pm How Consumer Technology is Changing Local and State Governments Presented by Bill Wolpin, American City& County Magazine and Alan Shark, Public Technology

Institute (PTI) From still photos and videos to GPS and Smartphones, you will learn the latest trends in consumer technology and how it will continue to influence government operations. Most governments realize that this Consumerization of Technology poses some interesting challenges, especially developing programs and services for those with the new devices, as well as planning for those without access to them. In addition, you will learn how to use social media to create additional opportunities to better engage citizens.
