HOST Yearend Activities Dear All, It is a pleasure to present you all the Yearend activities that HOST and SeaTeam have participated in India, The Philippines and in Russia. The month of December is the special time of the year that we take to engage with all our different HOST causes around the world. Together with our seafarers and office employees we had visited our centers with gifts and goodies, talked to the children and put a smile on their faces. Let me walk you through the initiatives that were made possible only due to your kind hearts and contributions! On the financial front, total donations since we started are now $639,282. Total funds in HOST as at end December is $168,966. We are in a good position financially to explore new and rewarding initiatives. Chennai, India Gnanodaya School On the 26 th of November SeaTeam staff have taken a trip from Chennai to Gnanodaya. There we visited the school, met the children, the teachers & support staff that make this school function every day. The children looked happy & healthy, clean and well taken care of. In the afternoon, we headed to the leprosy colony near the school. Here we were greeted by all the families and welcomed by the village spokesman. We had distributed hampers of provisions for all the 62 families that live in this small settlement.

HOST has been part of this initiative for close to 9 years and feel we did make a difference. During this period, we had supported them with upgrade of school facilities; providing the needful for the children (food; uniforms; books; yearly gifts). On continuous basis, HOST provides monthly support in the form of full payment of the salaries for all the Teachers and Support Staff.   As HOST  is by  far  the  largest  single donator  to  the  school, we  receive  the  school quarterly  report of activities. We encourage you to read the School Report attached to get all the updates of the children and their activity for the past 3 months.

St Georges Nursery and Primary School  On the 27th of November our team has visited St George School in Chennai. Here we were joined by a number of our seafarers from Chennai and that were on home leave. We had inspected the school and discussed with the principal on their status and needs.  Once the classes were finished, we had distributed year‐end gifts to all the children. All children present were thrilled to see SeaTeam visiting as they knew we always have a nice gift for them. Each class had entertained us with Christmas songs & carols as they were all preparing for the school Year‐end concerts.

Jolly faces across the entire school as each of the children received the SeaTeam Gifts.

St George School currently covers 139 pupils, ranging from kindergarten class to 5th grade standard.  HOST has been part of this initiative for close to 2 years. Till date, we had supported them with upgrade of facilities (room partitions); desks & benches for the classes; a computer room (with 4 PCs used for grade 4 & 5th); yearly gifts & school supplies.  On continuous basis, HOST provides monthly support in the form of additional payment of the Teacher’s salaries. HOST is also the full sponsor for 9 children in the form or yearly fees, uniforms, books & learning materials. We are happy with the way our initiatives & funds are used and benefiting this community in the centre of Chennai.

Model School   In the afternoon of the 27th we had visited a new location for HOST – Model School in Chennai. Model school is a government school located in the heart of Chennai. The school is in very bad conditions. What was once a good school for the neighbourhood, it is now deteriorated drastically. It used to accommodate over 100 children daily but now a maximum of 25 children come in. This is due to the families not allowing their children to come to such run‐down facilities.

Class of children in Model School receiving the SeaTeam Gifts.

Model School is the school where our own HOST sponsored seafarers have studied years back and they brought this trustworthy case to our attention. After inspecting the premises, speaking to all the teachers and personnel involved, HOST has decided to get involved and start an upgrade program for the school.

The aim of the project is to ensure the conditions of the school are uplifted to an acceptable level so that more children get enrolled here. Our vision is to have at leave double number of children by beg of next school year (starting June) – with an intention to start the work soonest.   More details will follow on this project as our Upgrade Program will progress.

Precious Heritage Orphanage and School  On 13th Dec 2019, SeaTeam Manila office staff had visited the Precious Heritage Orphanage. This is our yearly tradition as we enter the Season Holidays and wish to celebrate the same with our children in Precious Heritage.   We distributed Christmas gifts on behalf of HOST and saw the condition of the kids as well as their well‐being. We found the children extremely happy and well taken care of.  As expected, they wished to entertain us with songs for which all children rehearsed for weeks in anticipation of our visit. We are proud to see the donation of our seafarers and various office staff spent consciously and in the interest of the children.

We will continue to make regular visits to the orphanage where we are the major donor for years and enabled them to exist. It’s a fantastic feeling to see these children grow up and being taken care of and educated in the conditions that HOST provided for them.   The admin of Precious Heritage is grateful to SeaTeam and HOST and wishes all of us a “Merry Christmas and a Prosperous New Year – God Bless SeaTeam! ”

We are currently re‐evaluating our current programs as we want to further increase our support in all the four countries our seafarers come from. Supporting them and the needy children is our initiative to invest in the future of these communities.   As always, we wish to thank you all for your generous support.  We are sure HOST will continue to expand and play an important role in the lives of many people for years to come through charitable activities.
