Veteran’s Day 2

We had our ribbon cutting ceremony for

our Buddy Bench which was donated by

our supportive PTA! Thank you! We were

also able to play with the new play-

ground games the Ocean City Education

Foundation donated. In play, we learn,

practice and master skills on how to be a

good friend. We learn about friendships

and how to communicate with others in

social situations. These skills transfer

into the community, the workplace and

our society as a whole in years to come.

All of our students took the

following pledge:

Please contact Lisa Hurff if you are an

approved volunteer and would like to

come play with us at recess. We

would love to have you! If you are not

a volunteer, please consider being

one!

Thank you Sgt. Hopely and the

OCPD for teaching our 1st-3rd

grades the importance of bicycle

and pedestrian safety!

Thank you for a great start to our school year. Fall conferences

were a great way for our staff to share with parents MAP data and

student progress. We hope you enjoyed this time to sit down with

your child’s teacher earlier in the year to bond and build a strong

partnership in your child’s education. The Following are some high-

lights of the past few weeks: Volume 1, Issue 2

Bicycle and Pedestrian Safety

We would like to thank the

High School Key Club, The

OCPD, OCFD and parents for

helping us learn how to tie

our shoes. They worked

tirelessly for 3 days with

our children to learn how to

tie our shoes. Each child

received a charm from the

PTA.

Al of the third grade students worked very

hard on Veteran’s Day posters and essays

that were shared with the city and at our

assembly.

Our school celebrated Veterans’ Day with

a sing-a-long and visits from local veter-

ans, a.k.a HEROS! We were extremely

proud to be invited to Ocean City’s Veter-

an’s Ceremony. Mary Beth Libro (Our

Teacher of the Year), Mr. Dougan (a veter-

an), and the following students attended:

Travis Bickley, Diana Olmedo, Daphne

Brozyna, Isabella Kenny, Alley Alva,

Chloe Care, Sam Ritti, Sadie Tucker,

Abril Bautista, Mimi McCusker

Special thank you to our Ocean

City Fire Department for open-

ing their firehouse to our PK,

Kindergarten and First grade

classes to visit. The tour was

exciting,. We loved squirting

the fire hose and stop, drop-

ping and roll.

Red Ribbon & Anti-Bullying week was super fun with

our theme days! Thank you for helping your child partic-

ipate! This is a great time for students and staff to keep

the learning going but have some unique fun! The theme

days showed individual personalities which were cele-

brated during the week. We ended the week with our

costume parade. Your help and donations for the Hal-

loween parties was appreciated!

THANK YOU PTA—for sponsoring a Kindergarten Welcome Dinner, Book Fair, Fall Craft

Day and the Shoe Tying Clinic!

Thank you to all of our parents and guardians for joining us for Parent

Visitation Day. We enjoyed having you see us in action and visiting our

classrooms. We hope you had fun as we do every day learning!
