Vocab
Terms- the parts of an algebraic expression that are seperated by addition or subtraction signs.
Coefficients – in any term, the coefficient is the numeric factor of the term or the number that is multiplied by the variable.

Vocab
Degree of a Term – is the sum of the exponents of the variables in that term.
ex)Degree of a Monomial – is the sum of the
exponents of the variables in the monomial.ex)
Degree of a Polynomial – the greatest of the degrees of the terms after like terms are combined.
Vocab
Monomial – a polynomial with a single termex)
Binomial – a polynomial with two termsex)
Trinomial – a polynomial with three termsex)
Vocab
Polynomials are usually arranged in order of increasing or decreasing powers of one variable called ascending or descending order.
Polynomial Function – is a function that can be defined by a polynomial.

Vocab
If two terms of a polynomial have the same variable raised to the same powers, the terms are called like terms.
Example: Collect like terms
1) 3 + 4x + y + 5 + 3y
2) 3x + 2x² + 4x + 5x²
3) 4x²y + xy + 5xy + 3x²y
