    THE DOMINIC ROUTE

The great miracle by which the Dominicans could haveseen finished the greatest temples of Yanhuitlan,Teposcolula and Coixtlahuaca was due to the gratitudeof the indigenous people to them thanks to the spiritual, material and social benefits obtained; despite of the greatquality job of Mixtec inhabitans. The seed of evangelization came to fruition in a good

land; you just have to visit the Museum of OaxacaCultures, at the Cultural Center of Santo Domingo, torealize of the prehispanic ability. The arqueological zonesof Monte Albn,Mitla, Dainz and Lambityeco show theeloquence of their arquitectonic knowledge. On their construction stands out the Tequitqui art, this is

the indigenous sculpture work in two dimensions withsuperficies, but still not yet familiarizewhit the tridimensional European work.

The Dominican Route at the Oaxaca Mixteca offers tothe visitors the opportunity to experience the vice royaltimes along the Royal Path, which connected the capitalof New Spain with Old Guatemala through its majesticconvents and temples; the most representatives areYanhuitln, Teposcolula and Coixtlahuaca.

The evangelization of Oaxaca is a result of this chain of

buildings situated no more than one day of distance, allowing the Dominicans to leave a convent early in the

morning and get to the other at night.

The temple and ex-convent of Santo Domingo Yanhuitlnis one of the most important buildings talking about itsarquitecture, it is the inspiration for many since it wasbuilt by arquitects from El Escorial de Espaa.
