Sophomore Katie Schell was chosen as Comet of the Month by the OHS Student Recognition Committee. Schell is a member of the Art and Drama clubs.

Senior Delaney Durst was selected as the Most Self-less Student. Durst is a member of the basketball team.

Both awards were chosen by the OHS staff.

Durst wins for Selflessness

By Liam White(From dailyoakwoodtimes.com)OHS senior Lexi Hernandez, an

employee of the Oakwood McDon-ald’s, won the golden ticket cour-tesy of her place of work. It was ac-tually two tickets Hernandez won, and those tickets will admit her to Super Bowl XLIX in Phoenix.

This stroke of luck for Hernandez did not start out as luck. The Oak-wood McDonald’s won a contest among other McDonald’s restau-rants to have the best rating overall.

This contest meant that the Oak-wood McDonald’s would be receiv-ing 11 prizes to give to random em-

ployees and this is when the luck began.

The final prize was the Super Bowl trip for two.

Hernandez said that “at least 20” people had asked her for the second ticket to the game.

She decided to bring her mother along with her.

The game to be played on Febru-ary 1 is not the only perk Hernan-dez receives with her prize. The trip is all-expenses paid. This includes two first-class plane tickets, three nights in a five star Phoenix hotel and $500 for shopping and dining.

Hernandez and her mother will also get the chance to have a meet and greet with the players of both teams.

Hernandez wins trip to Super Bowl!

Comet boys scoring leaders

Comet senior Parker Lee scored his 1000th ca-reer varsity point on Janu-ary 13 against Salt Fork.

Lee became the 11th boy to cross the 1000-point mark as a Comet. The last person to do it was his brother Cameron.

He signed the ball in the east lobby trophy case,

which has the signature of the previous 1000-point scorers.

Lee has played varsity since his freshmen year and has been a starter since he was a sophomore.

Lee scored 427 points as a junior, 321 points as a sophomore, and nine points as a freshman.

Schell named Comet of the Month
