issues, parking will be minimized inside the track at football games.

If a family chooses, they can put a tent in their spot instead of a vehicle.

School lunch accounts

Lunches may be purchased by completing a payment through E-Pay on our website (www.oak-wood.k12.il.us) or sending mon-ey with your child to the school.

If you are sending a check, please put the child’s name on the memo line of the check. Checks should be made payable to “Oak-wood High School.”

We encourage payment by check when sending money to the school because it serves as a dated record of payment.

If you must send cash, please

enclose it in an envelope with the student’s first and last name on the envelope.

Free and reduced lunch appli-cations will be available at reg-istration and in the school office throughout the school year.

FOOD SERVICE CHARGESDaily $ 2.55Weekly $12.75Extra Milk $ 0.30

Any extra food will be sold to students in the second lunch if they have money available in their account.

The OHS Booster Club is ready to begin another year supporting the ath-letic teams and they could use your support.

The group meets just once a month, at 7 p.m. on the last Wednesday of the month in the high school library. The next meeting is August 26.

In the past few years they have provided assis-tance to each of the school’s programs.

They have bought golf bags, re-surfaced the soccer field, helped purchase the gym score-boards, purchased training equipment for foot-ball, and uniforms for softball, patches for cham-pionships, pins for letterwinners, among many other things.

This is a worthwhile group that could use your help.

SWAP Day is set for September 16

Parents will get the chance to attend school for their students on September 16, an 11:30 dismissal day. This is called SWAP Day.

This day pro-vides parents the opportunity to see exactly what their students do during a normal day of school.

Only one parent is needed to attend, even for multiple children. They are encouraged to attend for the entire morning but must attend at least four class hours. If a parent attends, then the student is excused from attending on that day.

If a parent can not come, the ONLY acceptable substitutes are a grandparent or a sibling who graduated before 2011.

Parents are responsible for any homework due and taking any assign-ments to be done by students for the following day.

This will be the 38th annual SWAP day at OHS.

Student ID photos taken on Aug. 31

All students and staff will have their ID photos taken during Homeroom on August 31.

The photos are used for their identification cards as well as for publication in The Acorn.

Students should dress appropriately for the photo-graphs.

If a student is absent or is unable to get their photo taken at that time, there will be a makeup day.

The photos will be taken by Sharon Richardson.

It’s class ring time! The freshmen will be able to

order their Jostens class rings in September.

There will be a meeting dur-ing Homeroom on September 10 for the freshmen.

Orders will be taken from 3 to 6 p.m. on Sept. 15, in the East Lobby. Parents are wel-come at that time to see sam-ples and ask questions of the Jostens representatives.

Jostens would like to be able to send out information to freshmen parents via emails and mailings. They would get this data from us but only with your approval.

They would only use this in-formation four times:

1 -- Prior to the meeting with information regarding depos-its, order dates, and payments

2 -- After the order date, they will send out confirmation of the order and a reminder for those that did not order.

3 -- Notification of the de-livery date and payment infor-mation

4 -- Last chance notification to order

If you want us to provide Jostens with this informa-tion, then contact the high school and we will put your name on their list.
