''ANYTHING GOES" PERSONALITIES

JOHN P. HEALY, JR. (Billy Crocker)John started his music theatre training at the Santa

Clara Youth Village Players, has since performed withthe San Jose Light Opera, the Campbell DistrictPlayers, and the West Valley Light Opera Association.He has had "name" parts in "Little Mary Sunshine,""The Fortune Teller," and "Brigadoon" in additionto other musicals. His last appearance in a WestValley production was as Prince Karl Franz in "TheStudent Prince."

John founded the Cabrini Community Theatre andhas directed seven of their plays: He sang as soloist in"The Messiah" of the Junior Music Festival "of SantaClara County. A cellist with the San Jose Symphony, he is studying.at Stan-ford where he is interested in musical theatre. Recently John directed andplayed Ralph Rackstraw in the Cabrini Guest Artist Series production of"H.M.S. Pinafore;" he is Resident Director of the San Jose Children's MusicalTheatre, and his musical comedy song and dance group, the "Entr'actes,"won the Santa Clara Fair talent contest.

MEL CARREROW (Director)After 53 stage performances and Assistant to the

Director, Mel has finally come into his own Director-ship in the production of "ANYTHING GOES." Hehas had experience in all phases of the performingarts, once playing six different roles in the productionof "LITTLE ME." Mel played the demanding part ofHarry Beaton in "BRIGADOON" and, in addition to

, playing Jawan in "KISMET." he was also AssistantDirector; both of the above were West Valley LightOpera productions. Mel is married to the formerSusan Kenoyer, who has had parts in some formerWest Valley plays.

HOLLY HURST (Hope Harcourt)

TOM HORTI (Moonface)This production marks Tom Horti's' seventh West

Valley Light Opera Association production, havingplayed in "Once Upon A Mattress," "Bells Are Ring-ing," "Gypsy," "On A Clear Day" and "Kismet,"among others. He has also appeared with the San JoseTheatre Guild, the Actors Repertory Theatre and wasmost recently seen as Jacquot in the CommunityTheatre production of "Carnival." A native NewYorker, Tom moved to San Jose ten years ago as aLockheed employee. In addition to his dramaticefforts, Tom is President of the Lockheed AstronomyClub and ProgramDirector for the Lockheed Manage-ment Association. His wife, Hazel, has also appearedin a number of WestValley plays as well as with othergroups in the.area. .

Six years ago, while recovering from a severe fallfrom a horse, Holly began memorizing Shakespearejsince then she has become very serious about actingand plans to attend the A.C.T. Training Congress inSan Francisco this January. She has played Daisy in"On A Clear Day," Cinderella in "Cinderella," andMrs. Paroo in "Music Man" and is currently rehears-ing for the part of Annie in "Annie Get Your Gun."She has performed at the CircleStar Theatre and witha comedy-satire group, The Overhead Door. Hollyand three friends formed a musical comedy group"State of Mind," and performed at various veterans

and children's hospitals, retirement communities, and institutions for thementally retarded. At Los Angeles they placed second in a U.S.D. competi-tion. Last year in collaboration with her teacher mother, she wrote andillustrated a children's book to be published soon. Entering her sophomoreyear of college, Holly hopes to channel her creative energies into directingsome of the plays that she has collaborated in writing.

A native San Josean, Derette entered the theatre atthe age of sixteen, making her debut with the SanJose Light Opera in "Little Me" and "West SideStory." In 1968 she joined the West Valley LightOpera group and played leading dance roles in "SouthPacific," "On A Clear Day You Can See Forever,"and in "Brigadoon" as Maggie Anderson, anextremely demanding part. "Anything Goes" marksher first speaking role.

At present a sophomore at San Jose City College,majoring in Dance and Drama, Derette plans toattend the University of California at Irving to furtherher education. She is presently a part-time instructorat Marion Lindsay's Saratoga School of Dance andTheatre Arts.

DENISE KILBOURNE (Reno Sweeney)A teacher of speech, drama and photography,

Denise also finds time to write and direct plays aswell as take part in them. Her many accomplishmentsinclude collaborating and starring in two originalmusicals produced by the San Francisco State DramaDepartment in Berkeley. Among the many musicalsand dramas in which she has had leading parts are"Music Man," "Once Upon A Mattress" and "On AClear Day" in Palo Alto and Menlo Park. She hasattended the American Conservatory TheatreAdvanced Training Congress in San Francisco. Herpresent role marks her first appearance in a WestValley Light Opera production.

DERETTE MARCH (Bonnie)

JIM HARRIS (Sir Evelyn Oaldeigh)Jim is making his seventh appearance in a West

Valley Light Opera Association production, havingpreviously played important parts in their "MollyBrown," "Oklahoma," "Here's Love," "Bells AreRinging." "On A Clear Day," and "South Pacific."He has also performed with Comedia of Palo Alto andwith San Jose City and San Jose State drama groups.A librarian in the Santa Clara School District, Jim ismarried and has two daughters.

SHIRLEY GARNER (Mrs. Harcourt)Shirley is making her stage debut in this produc-

tion of the West Valley Light Opera Association;active as a soloist and church choir director in theWest Valley Area for the past ten years, Mrs. Garneris a graduate of the University of Oregon with adegree in Music. She currently teaches choir and class-room music at Bret Harte Junior High School in theSan Jose Unified School District.
