How to keep your cat calm on a vet visit Let your cat play around the carrier before you visit. Perhaps pop some treats in there in the days before you travel. In the car, make sure the carrier is level and secure. 1.The cat carrier Clean the car and remove air fresheners. Put familiar (smelling) blankets in and over the carrier. Use a pheromone spray if that helps. 2.Familiar smells Minimise your cat’s time in the waiting room. Keep your cat away from other animals when waiting. Keeping the cat carrier on your lap or on our special stands can really help. 3.In the waiting room Take your cat’s favourite treats when you come to visit. Offer treats at points where they will reinforce positive aspects of the day. Handle your cat in the consultation room rather than the waiting room. 4.Offer treats If you have a cat that really doesn’t like travelling to the vets then, please let us know when you book and call us before you start your trip so we can prepare for your visit.
