I can smell the fresh air and sea creatures; imagine jumping in the waves; feel the warmth of the sand as I dig my toes into it and hear the birds and noises of the fishermen as the water laps at the sides of their boat. The beach and adoration are the two places I can completely lose myself. When I am there, I do not worry about how I got here, or where I need to go next, I am fully present in the Son, sun, sand and waves. There is a beautiful song called, “Oceans” by Hillsong United that connects my love of the beach with God’s love and plan for all of us. You call me out upon the waters, The great unknown where feet may fail And there I find You in the mystery, In oceans deep, My faith will stand And I will call upon Your name, And keep my eyes above the waves When oceans rise, My soul will rest in Your embrace, For I am Yours and You are mine Your grace abounds in deepest waters, Your sovereign hand, Will be my guide Where feet may fail and fear surrounds me, You've never failed and You won't start now Spirit lead me where my trust is without borders Let me walk upon the waters Wherever You would call me Take me deeper than my feet could ever wander And my faith will be made stronger In the presence of my Savior Jesus calls us into the deep- and it can be scary- but we are nev- er alone! He gives us His very self- Body, Blood, Soul, and Di- vinity to enter us, nourish and sustain us. This Sunday as Cooper Anquillare, Vivian James, Alice Lam- bert, Claire Pohlmeyer and Ryan Pytash, are receiving Jesus in the Eucharist for the first time, it is a celebration and an immense gift! For ALL OF US, no matter how many times we have re- ceived Our Lord in the Holy Eucharist, it should always be a cause for celebration and a gift! What makes it so special the first time is the same thing that makes it special every time! We receive Jesus into our body and our soul, and we ask Him to change us in the way the bread and wine become the Body and Blood- to make us more like Him. This is very beautiful, personal, and intimate. We should never take it for granted! As our second graders join us at the Table of the Lord this Sun- day, we all celebrate the joyful occasion! Let this time renew within each of us, the incredible beauty of the gift we are given! A special thanks to all who helped prepare the Confirmation candi- dates: Madison Bohacek, Greg Drager, Margie Jones, Ruth & Tim Lewicki, Christian Loucka, Kailey Smotek and Jim Weyrick! Also, a thanks to all who made the Confirmation Mass a beautiful celebra- tion: Bishop Amos, Deacon Robin Adair, Fr. Finally – NEXT SUNDAY, May 12 th we will celebrate Mother’s Day and honor The Blessed Virgin Mary with a May Crowning immedi- ately following the 10:30 am Mass.

The Liturgy of the Word

* 1st Reading: Acts 5: 27-32, 40b-41*

When the captain and the court officers had brought the apostles in and made them stand before the Sanhedrin, the high priest questioned them, "We gave you strict orders, did we not, to stop teaching in that name? Yet you have filled Jerusalem with your teaching and want to bring this man's blood upon us." But Peter and the apostles said in reply, "We must obey God rather than men. The God of our ancestors raised Jesus, though you had him killed by hanging him on a tree. God exalted him at his right hand as leader and savior to grant Israel repentance and forgiveness of sins. We are witnesses of these things, as is the Holy Spirit whom God has given to those who obey him." The Sanhedrin ordered the apostles to stop speaking in the name of Jesus, and dismissed them. So they left the presence of the Sanhedrin, rejoicing that they had been found worthy to suffer dishonor for the sake of the name. The word of the Lord. THANKS BE TO GOD.

1. I will extol you, LORD, for you have raised me up, and have not let my enemies rejoice over me. O LORD, you have lifted up my soul from the grave, restored me to life from those who sink into the pit. 2. Sing psalms to the LORD, you faithful ones; give thanks to his holy name. His anger lasts a moment; his favor all through life. At night come tears, but dawn brings joy. 3. Hear, O LORD, and have mercy on me; be my helper, O LORD. You have changed my mourning into dancing. O LORD my God, I will thank you forever.

* 2nd Reading: Revelation 5: 11-14 *

I, John, looked and heard the voices of many angels who surrounded the throne and the living creatures and the elders. They were countless in number, and they cried out in a loud voice: "Worthy is the Lamb that was slain to receive power and riches, wisdom and strength, honor and glory and blessing."

Then I heard every creature in heaven and on earth and under the earth and in the sea, everything in the universe, cry out: "To the one who sits on the throne and to the Lamb be blessing and honor, glory and might, forever and ever." The four living creatures answered, "Amen, " and the elders fell down and worshiped. The word of the Lord. THANKS BE TO GOD.

* Gospel Acclamation *

* Verse: * Christ is risen, creator of all;

he has shown pity on all people.

* Gospel: John 21: 1-14 *

At that time, Jesus revealed himself again to his disciples at the Sea of Tiberias. He revealed himself in this way. Together were Simon Peter, Thomas called Didymus, Nathanael from Cana in Galilee, Zebedee's sons, and two others of his disciples. Simon Peter said to them, "I am going fishing." They said to him, "We also will come with you." So they went out and got into the boat, but that night they caught nothing. When it was already dawn, Jesus was standing on the shore; but the disciples did not realize that it was Jesus. Jesus said to them, "Children, have you caught anything to eat?" They answered him, "No." So he said to them, "Cast the net over the right side of the boat and you will find something." So they cast it, and were not able to pull it in because of the number of fish. So the disciple whom Jesus loved said to Peter, "It is the Lord." When Simon Peter heard that it was the Lord, he tucked in his garment, for he was lightly clad, and jumped into the sea. The other disciples came in the boat, for they were not far from shore, only about a hundred yards, dragging the net with the fish. When they climbed out on shore, they saw a charcoal fire with fish on it and bread. Jesus said to them, "Bring some of the fish you just caught." So Simon Peter went over and dragged the net ashore full of one hundred fifty-three large fish. Even though there were so many, the net was not torn. Jesus said to them, "Come, have breakfast." And none of the disciples dared to ask him, "Who are you?" because they realized it was the Lord. Jesus came over and took the bread and gave it to them, and in like manner the fish. This was now the third time Jesus was revealed to his disciples after being raised from the dead. The Gospel of the Lord. PRAISE TO YOU, LORD JESUS CHRIST.

Respect Life Mother’s Day Carnation Sale

The LIFE Matters ministry of Our Lady of Guadalupe is sponsoring the annual Right To Life Flowers For Life sale to be held next week on Mother’s Day weekend. Carnations are $2.00 each or 3 for $5.00 and bouquets are $10.00, each are being sold after all Masses. Please say “Thank you for the gift of life!” to wives, moms, grandmas, godmothers and loving friends with beautiful flowers and support Right To Life of Northeast Ohio’s continuing efforts to promote the dignity of all human life from conception to natural death.

I am happy to inform you that we have purchased an exposition tabernacle for our chapel at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church. This tabernacle will hopefully enhance the prayer experience of our adorers. We have chosen to keep vigil in the presence of the Eucharistic Christ. The teaching of the Church is there should be at least two adorers present to have prolonged exposition. We pray that more parishioners will help in our pray-

er vigil before Christ. On the bulletin board in the narthex area are posted the times that we need additional adorers. The Eucharist, because it is reserved for viaticum and the sick, is to be adored. The adoration times from Monday morning until Saturday morning will continue. Also, this will allow us to keep the chapel open during the day on Saturday and Sunday mornings for prayer. Please pray for more adorers and consider committing to spending time in His presence! The May issue of the Catholic Update is entitled: Mystagogy – Deepening the Christian Experience written by Redemptorist

Pastoral Publication. Mystagogy is one of the greatest treasurers of the Church, one we’ve neglected far too long and one that would benefit everyone – even long-standing and cradle Catholics. This Greek word means “leading or guiding into mystery.” This is the Incarnation and its extension into our lives through the seven sacraments which are the works of the Holy Spirit. The supreme examples of these are the three sacraments of initiation – baptism, confirmation and Eucharist. This is a very informative issue and a must read of this Catholic Update. Open the eyes of my heart, Lord!

May 5, 2019 Saint John in the book of Revelation gives us a glimpse of the spiritual ecstasy that awaits us in heaven, where we will continually praise and glorify God. Jesus alone is our lord and savior and is worthy of honor, glory and blessings. In the first reading, we heard about the Holy Spirit empowering the early church when Saint Peter and the Apostles stood before the Sanhedrin and confessed that they must obey God rather than man. We are called to follow the Apostles’ example; we must not lose our moral compass as we travel through life’s constant twists and turns. We must stay true to God’s word and the teachings of the Church. Unfortunately, it is all too easy to get caught up in the social teachings of our culture and lose sight of God’s plan for us. As we drift further away from God and the church, we may find ourselves on one of life’s dead end streets feeling all alone. Luckily, we have a merciful and loving God who will never abandon us. Saint John gave us a glimpse of our Lord’s compassion in his gospel; he didn’t chastise Saint Peter for his denial, but reconciled with him and commanded him to tend to His flock. Jesus didn’t come to condemn the world, but to save it. Spend a moment this week listening to the lyrics of David Crowder’s song “Come As You Are”. The phrase “Earth has no sorrow that heaven can’t heal” depicts the mercy our God has for us. Do not ever underestimate the mercy and love of our God. Trusting in His mercy will lead us to heaven. You can find it by searching ‘Crowder Come as you are’. Let us pray. Heavenly Father, send us your spirit to empower us to live and evangelize our faith in your son Jesus. Let us trust in your mercy, knowing that even though we may stumble or lose our way, your mercy is greater than anything we could do on earth. We ask this in Jesus’ name. Amen.

Rosary is also offered on Wednesday evening at 6:00 PM in the Adoration Chapel. If you would like to lead the Rosary at one those Masses, contact Karen Scolaro

at 330.468.2194, Ex 127 and leave your name and number.

Please join us on May 12th after the 10:30 Mass for a brief May Crowning celebration to honor our Blessed Mother. This will take place by the Blessed Mother statue in front of our church entrance.
