A Commitment to Veterans

Chancellor Tolley announced the “uniform admissions program”, promising everyone entering the service that there would be places waiting for them at Syracuse when they returned.

“I realized that if a veterandidn’t go to college as soonas he came back, he’dnever have anotherchance. It was now ornever. Now was not thetime to shut the doors. Ourdoors opened wide in 1946.”

—Chancellor William Pearson Tolley
