Critical R&D Platforms in a Collaborative EnvironmentCompanies and institutions in Eastern Ontario have a prominent role in world-class nuclear research and development.

• Chalk River Laboratories, is the internationally renowned Research and development arm of Atomic Energy of Canada Limited.

• Cameco, Royal Military College, Queen’s University, University of Ontario Institute of Technology and AECL are partners in The University Network of Excellence in Nuclear Engineering (UNENE).

• The Nuclear Materials group at Queen’s University’s conducts research in structural materials for nuclear power applications. Collaborators include Atomic Energy of Canada Ltd., and Nu-Tech Precision Metals Inc.

• The Royal Military College is active in nuclear fuels research and The University of Ontario Institute of Technology is researching health, safety and environment issues.
