Hon’ble MLA Sri. V. Prabhakar Chowdary garu launched the Wa near Municipal Office on

Thursday. The cleanliness campaign was inaugurated in the State to emphasise and enhance the importance

of hygiene and proper sanitation among the public to pave the way for national development.

Hon'ble Mayor andMunicipal Commissioner inaugurated "Ananda Lahari" Programme in

Anantapur, As a part of preserving and promoting the glorious history and culture of Telugu language and

Telugu people. Classical and folk dances, karaoke, magic, mimicry and folk songs comprised the inaugural

‘Ananda lahari’ programme organised by AMC and the Culture Department of Andhra Pradesh.

As a part of City Initiatives, ‘Poster free city’ initiative has been initiated by Anantapur Municipal

Corporation. An agency has been engaged for carrying out painting works duly following the established

procedures and norms.

Deworming day is a day dedicated to deworm all the school going children of the country to

give them a healthy digestive system. It is a government mission aimed to reduce the cases of worm infection

among kids all over India. oAs a part of Dewarming day Hon'ble Mayor, Council mebers along with MHO and

other Health Officers participated in a rally to create awareness on dewarming and supplied medicines to the

school people.

The ‘Karthika Vana Samaradhana’, the event organised by the Forest Department at Anantapuramu, the event, received overwhelming response from the public.

The programme, jointly chalked out by Divisional Forest Officer witnessed the participation of over two hundreds people. Honorourle Minister Paritala Sunitha garu and Mayor Swaroopa garu said that celebration of ‘Karthika Vana Samaradhana’ will lead to creating a lot of awareness among the young minds regarding the importance of forests and its inseparable relationship with mankind.

Poster free initiative

‘Poster free city’ which is an initiative envisaged by the

Hon’ble Chief Minister as a step towards aesthetic cities

was commenced by the Anantapur Municipal Corporation

during the month of May. As an initial step, posters were

removed along all the major stretches in the city. This

month an agency has been engaged for the Painting

works duly following the established procedures and

norms. Concepts for paintings were finalized based on

local culture by maintaining the asthetics of the place.

As a part of preserving and promoting the glorious history and culture of Telugu language and

Telugu people, the AP Culture and Tourism department is conducting a novel programme in the

name of Ananda Lahari, in all the 13 district headquarters on Sunday.

Murthy Garu inaugarated the Waste compactor

vehiles in Anantapuramu on November1st 2017.

This was inaugurated in the city to increase

capcity of waste collection across the wards .

These compactor vehicles will be placed across

different wards in the city to cover maximum area

under waste collection. Waste collected using

trolley, tracrtos and eichers will be compressed in

th ecompactor and taken to the dump yards.

The roads in different arears appeared spic and span as the Anantapuramu Municipal

Corporation (AMC) laid special emphasis on covering all open dumping spots in the city.

The garbage was left uncollected alongside the roads in many places across the city and as part

of this programme the situation is changed tremendously .

Notwithstanding the pressure tactics by a section of traders, the Municipal administration is

planning to go ahead with a sustained drive against illegal encroachments.As a part of this

decision meeting was convened by the Municipal Commissioner

roads and also to secure the Governments

sites by removing all unauthorised and illegal

of municipality is being encroached making it out of

bounds for pedestrians. It is the duty of municipality to

remove encroachments on the platforms, he stated.The

municipality has already served notices to persons who

had allegedly encroached the government poramboke

lands, road and streets and set a deadline for their

removal.The official added, “We are not against anybody and we are for public. The encroachers

should realise their mistake.”

Pradhan Mantri Awaas Yojana was launched in June 2015

with an aim to provide affordable housing to urban poor.

Under PMAY, it is proposed to build houses for urban poor

including Economically Weaker Sections and Low Income

Groups in urban areas by the year 2022 through a financial

assistance from central government. This Mission has four

components viz., In-situ Slum Redevelopment with private

sector participation using land as resource, Affordable Housing through Credit Linked Subsidy,

Affordable Housing in Partnership with private and public sector and Beneficiary led house

construction/enhancement. Under this housing for all scheme applications verification had been

started by our AMC Officials.

AMC has taken leaps in exercising programmes of it’s own apart from those set by the Ministry

of Urban Development. Swachh Bharat is the country’s mission and every city finds its own way

to realise them. AMC has taken drastic steps for improving the city. The results are realized

practically and are sustainable too. Regular cleaning of roads, open dumping sites and other

clogged drains which are closely monitored by Municipal commissioner PVVS. Murthy garu has

changed a view of the city.

Swachh Bharat Mission has seen Anantapuramu undertake a brave and daring effort in

improving from an urban development to a Model City. The acknowledgement is loud and clear

and Ananta rejoices with Anantaties.

The silt removal using machine and also manually

across the city has changed status of hygiene in the

city. All the drains in the Corporation limits were

cleaned.

While removing the

silt, the sewage is

filtered. When the

waste material is

taken and dumped on the road, it is loaded in the vehicle and

disposed of in the usual way.

manner. Residents in the city have long been complaining of the non-removal of silt. This

resulted in over-flowing drains that could lead to outbreak of diseases.

Stagnation

Residents in ward 17 said that the drains had been cleaned 15 years ago and hence sewage

usually stagnated on the road due to clogging. “The machine cleans the long stretch of drains in

just a few hours,” they said

Planners supports World Town Planning Day as an approach to promote the broad-based

awareness, support, and promotion of community and regional planning between the general

public and all levels of management through activities in appreciation of American

achievements on World Town Planning Day of each year. As a part of this day Hon'ble

Commissioner, Assitant City Planner and other town planning staff celebrated the Town
