Scholastic Book OrderThis week the December Scholastic book

order will be sent home. This order will be due on Monday, December 6th. This is an opportunity for you to purchase some great yet inexpensive

books for your child as a gift for the holidays. Remember, you can also order online… every online order gets our class a FREE BOOK! You can find the instructions for ordering online on the handout stapled to the book order. Please make sure you turn in your order on time so that we can get our books in time for the holiday break. If you do not want your child to see the books you’ve purchased, please just send me an e-mail or note and I’ll keep them in a bag for you to pick up.

Spelling TestsYou should look for your child’s spelling list to come home every Monday (unless otherwise noted). The list should be practiced at home for at least 10 minutes per night for the test on Friday. We have only met our class goal of 21 out of 25 students receiving a blue TQ Kid coupon (for 80% or higher) 1 time so far this school year. Please help your child study at home. I highly suggest giving your child a practice test to figure out which words he/she needs to work on. I also recommend emphasizing the pattern in the list. If you have any questions or would like some interesting ways to study, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Just a reminder that Wednesday the November Book-It calendar is due. In order to be accepted and to receive the Pizza Hut coupon,

please be sure to record the minutes read each day, add up the

total minutes read for the week, total the minutes read for the month, and include a parent

signature.

Holiday PartyWe will be having a Holiday Party the last

week before the winter break. Please look for a note to come home in the next week or so about how you can sign up to

volunteer your time or to send in an item. Thank you in advance for your

support.

Team 3–5-7 Gives BackTo learn about the importance of community

service and giving to others, we will be participating in a can drive for Goodfellows with

Mrs. Bastine and Mrs. Sitek’s class. If you would like to participate please send in a non-perishable food item to donate. Donations will

be accepted through the end of this week!

Something to practice… We have reviewed identifying pennies, nickels, dimes, and quarters as well as the value of each. The students have also worked on counting by 1, 5, 10, and 25. You can continue to help your child practice at home by providing opportunities to count combinations of coins. Money is everywhere… ask your child to count the coins in the car, the change received at the store, the money in the couch cushions… anywhere! Remind your child that it is easiest to start with the coin worth the most first. Happy counting
