The St. Patrick’s & St. Brigid’s Food Pantry Located at 1331 W. Fayette St. open every Monday and Tuesday 9:30-12 .
The Christmas season is fast approaching; with Covid 19, having our traditional giving tree will
be a real challenge for shoppers as well as the families being able to pick up their gifts. This year
we are asking for people to provide gift cards which can give to our families so they can still pur-
chase gifts for their children. We would like to have all the gift cards turned in to either the recto-
ry or church no later than the weekend of December 12
th
and 13
th
. This would give our families
enough time to do their own shopping. As always, thank you for your kindnesses and generosity.

PLEASE BE SURE TO HAVE YOUR GIFT CARDS MARKED ST. PATRICK

Christmas gifts at Elmcrest Children’s Center and McMahon- Ryan

Karen is hoping to be able to help them again this year.
Both entities would like gift cards to assist their families.
If you would like to assist the McMahon-Ryan Advocacy Group, gift
cards to Walmart, Target or Wegmans would be appreciated.

As of January 1, 2021, our Youth Minister and Confirmation
coordinator, Terri Condon will be retiring. We have been so very
blessed to have Terri’s great talent and commitment to our young
students, families and parishioners over these past many years.
We will miss you in your position, but are grateful that you and Keith
will still be a part of our parish community! God Bless you and all
your good works. Well done, good and faithful servant!
Terri will be turning over the reins to Sharon Guglielmi. Sharon is a
warm and talented woman who is very enthusiastic about her new
position. Sharon has taught in the Confirmation program for the
past few years. Sharon is a great addition to the staff and to our
parish!
Welcome aboard Sharon!
Respect Life
As euthanasia and assisted suicide become legal in more states and
nations, the Church recently reaffirmed its teaching on the sinfulness
and gravity of the matter and the obligation of Catholics to
accompany the sick and dying through prayer, presence and the
sacraments. On September 22, the Congregation for the Doctrine of
the Faith released “Samaritanus Bonus: On the Care of Persons in
the Critical and terminal Phases of Life,” which states that a person
who turns to euthanasia, “whatever their subjective dispositions may
be, has decided upon a gravely immoral act.” We are grateful for
these instructions, which will enlighten pastors and the
faithful “regarding their questions and uncertainties
about medical care, and their spiritual and pastoral
obligations to the sick in the critical and terminal
stages of life. “
May their souls and all the souls
of the Faithful Departed through the mercy
 of God rest in peace.
 Joan Dobricki, Marty Mather
Fall has arrived and with it comes our annual Hope
Appeal. With Covid 19 our lives have not been what
we are normally accustomed to. The Hope Appeal
supports many aspects of our Diocese who without our
help would not be ableto fulfill their basic needs. It is
a struggle every year to understand and appreciate the
needs of our fellow neighbors. It is with hope that our
parish community will be able to help support the
needs of our Diocesan community.
St. Patrick's & St. Brigid's Hope Appeal goal is
$42,126.98. Our parish has 644 families registered. If
each family gave $65.45 we would meet our
goal. $65.45 is equal to $5.45 per month or $1.26 per
week. When you look at our goal in this way it does
not appear to be overwhelming.
St. CharlesSt. Ann’s Hope Appeal goal is 61,550.20.
Our parish has 805 families registered. If each family
gave $76.46 we would meet our goal. That would
mean $10.93 per week.
The Hope Appeal runs from October 11December 31,
2020.

Some random thoughts…...
Many of us are struggling with the frustrations of the day. Covid 19,
dark gloomy skies, loss of interaction with family and friends and damp
rainy weather. As we approach the seasons of fall and advent let us
each think of our neighbor and know that they may be struggling as
well. Some of us are realizing for the first time that as we approach
this Holiday season things may look very different this year. This is
usually a time of year when we all spend time with many family and
friends. For some of us this time year may be a very lonely. Many peo-
ple may not feel comfortable inviting family and friends into their
homes or some of us may not feel comfortable going to the homes of
others in our lives.
Let us each take a few minutes each day to be kind to one another, to
offer a friendly smile, to remember it is not what you may say to
someone, but the tone in which it is said that may be hurtful. To re-
member what measures you take for your safety may make someone
in your life feel very isolated and alone. We each need to be very con-
scious of others, not knowing what they are each individually strug-
gling with.
Dear Lord, Please help me to be present for my neighbor,
to be understanding
and supportive, to offer words of encouragement and not be critical.
Take the time
to be welcoming to all our neighbors as best as we can.
Amen
