! The Imagination Machine What is The Imagination Machine?

A PTA sponsored assembly for our students. The Writing Show: “The Imagination Machine's most popular assembly will literally bring your students' own stories to life! Nothing inspires your students to write like watching their own words spring onto the stage, fully-fleshed out in a complete production with professional actors, music, props and costumes! The selected authors also receive a Certificate of Writing Achievement at the end of the show. This is the show that will have your students begging to write stories!” © 2015 The Imagination Machine

How does this assembly work?

The Imagination Machine will bring several actors and a pianist to our school on January 13, 2017. These actors perform stories written by our very own students! The stories will be pre-selected by The Imagination Machine from our student submissions. All grades are encouraged to participate.

How can your student participate?

Students submit their story to their teacher by Friday, December 2nd, 2016. This is a firm deadline. Students may turn them in early and may submit more than one story.

Guidelines for Story Submission

1. Stories must be labeled with: (a) student’s full name, (b) grade, and (c) teacher’s name. We cannot submit stories without names on them. !

2. Stories can be from one to two sentences on up to, but not exceeding, two pages. Stories longer than 2 pages will be returned to the student for correction before being submitted. !

3. Variety, creativity & imagination are highly encouraged. Book reports, essays, and lists are unable to be accepted. !

4. All submitted stories must be written on 8 ½” x 11” paper. Construction paper is not acceptable, nor are “picture books”. !

5. Every story that is selected for performance is copied for our actors. If you submit a copy rather than an original, please be sure the quality of that copy is such that we can easily read the entire story as well as the name, grade and teacher’s name. !

6. The Imagination Machine team tries to pick at least one story from each grade. If your student’s story is selected parents will be notified prior to the assembly and you will be invited to watch your students words acted out on stage. !

7. Students whose stories are selected will be presented a certificate by the Imagination Machine team and featured in the Linda Vista yearbook! !
