* REFLECTION * We all want prosperity for ourselves and for our children and our children’s children. In this reading the prosperity that we are seek- ing comes from our obedience to God and God’s commandments. How many of us really tried to live our lives so that the Lord our God is God alone whom we love and obey with all our hearts? The queson raised to Jesus was: Which commandment is the first of all? Jesus an- swered with two, instead of one. The two are inseparable. It is not possible to have one without the other. Keep the two before you and live them fully: “you are not far from the kingdom of God”. Today’s readings concern the paradox of love. Love of God is only realized by our love for one another. We are to show the same concern for others as we show ourselves. Jesus was asked for only one commandment, but he gave a second. Why? Jesus’ teaching oſten equated love of neighbour and love of God. You cannot worship God unless you are reconciled with your neighbour. In pleading forgiveness from God we are told we must pledge ourselves to forgiving others. The two are so intertwined that one is impossible without the other. Balancing the two in our lives becomes difficult. Social acon movat- ed by our love of others is not an excuse to avoid prayer and worship in community. Times for prayer and worship are no reason to turn the other way when someone is genu- inely in need of our aenon and care. THOUGHT OF THE WEEK

My God, my rock in whom I take refuge, my shield, & the source of my

salvation, my stronghold.

* REFLECTION * c o n t i n u e d … What does it mean to love God with my whole person? Do I see all people, especially the poor, the lonely, the oppressed as my neighbour? Do I make room in my life for prayer and worship of God or do I excuse myself, saying that I am busy helping other people and do not have time for God. Do I see that loving or caring for others is a way of completing my love for God and time spent in prayer? Are these commandments being passed on to my children and my children’s children? We are called to carry in our mind, in our hearts and in our lives the two equal Commandments, summarized by Jesus in today’s Gospel. We need to be reminded of them in our going out and coming in to our homes. Our hearts and our community need to be permeated with this love of God and neighbour.

CWL Meeting: Mon., Nov. 5th, at 7:00pm.

A time of remembrance ~November ~ Month of All Saints and All Souls “Just as Jesus died and has risen again, so through Jesus, God will bring with him those who have fallen asleep: and as in Adam all die, so also in Christ will all be brought to life.” ~1 Thess. 4:14: 1Cor. 15:2 We ask that you remember especially in your prayers those members of our Holy Family Parish listed below, who have passed away since November 2017 to October 2018. May the perpetual light of God shine upon them.
