Holiday Waste Reduction Tips• Reduce the amount of disposable tableware by using reusable tableware.• Buy products that can be recycled or are made from recycled materials.• Bring along a reusable tote/shopping bag when you shop.• Recycle holiday cards by reusing them as gift tags for next year.• Donate items that are still in good condition to local
shelters and charities.• Recycle your holiday wrapping paper.• Save holiday gift bags and reuse them
again next year.
You can play an important role in making Helendale a greener, healthier community by reducing the litter and waste generated from single-use carry-out bags by using reusable bags. Here are three new R’s to help you:
Remind: Place your reusable bags by the door, near your car keys, or write it down on your shopping list to remind you.
Ready: Keep a ready supply of them in your car and at the office so that you can grab one when you need it.
Rethink: Stop and rethink about using your reusable bags just for grocery store shopping. Consider all of the places where you go shopping or buy take-out food, and try using them there.
Worried about germs? Hang the bag in the sun for an hour, sunlight is the best sanitizer there is!

Residential Christmas Tree
CollectionBurrtec will collect and recycle Christmas trees from single-family residences. Please place your tree at curbside during the period after Christmas (December 26, 2016 through January 7, 2017) on your collection day. Trees 6’ and over need to be cut in half. Please take all ornaments, lights, and metal stands off of the tree. Flocked trees will not be recycled, they will be collected as trash. Flocked trees 6’ and over need to be cut in half.

Burrtec offers large and small containers for residential clean-ups and special projects. Containers are available for 7-day rentals and include delivery and removal. All unwanted materials can be placed directly into the container with the exception of hazardous waste, tires or large amounts of dirt, rock, concrete, or asphalt. Free Bulky Item Pick-UpsSingle-family residences are allowed up to five items picked up twice per calendar year. No construction material, tree stumps, dirt, rocks, or items too large for two people to lift. Carpet must be no longer than 4’ and under 40 lbs. Contact Helendale CSD Customer Service (760) 951-0006 to schedule a pick up. Items must be placed at the curb by 8 am on your scheduled pick up day. Do not place items in the street.
