In addition to English, and Spanish this Sacrament may also be in Italian.

•WEDDINGS/ MATRIMONIO Pre–marital instruction is a requirement for all engaged couples. Consequently, arrangements for weddings should be made SIX MONTHS in advance.

NOSTRO SIGNORE GESÙ CRISTO RE DELL'UNIVE RSO 20 DI NOVEMBRE, 2016

““Have you no fear of God, for you are subject to the same condemnation! And indeed, we have been condemned justly, for the sentence we received corresponds to our crimes but this man has done nothing criminal.” Then he said, ‘Jesus remember me when you come into your kingdom.’ He replied to him, ‘Amen, I say to you, today you

will be with me in Paradise.’” Almost daily, the media offers us stories of crimes, criminals, trials and sentencing. Shame, humiliation, and despair wound families of both victims and the accused. How different it was on Calvary that afternoon, when the ‘good thief’ acknowledged guilt, expressed remorse, and won his place in heaven. Bishop Sheen stated ‘He committed another crime as he stole heaven.’ Pope Francis tells the story of a person to be executed who did not repent of his deeds, and if he had the chance, he would continue to do the same wrong. The confessor asked ‘Are you sorry then that you are not sorry?’ May we allow the words of the repentant thief fall from our lips: ‘Jesus remember me…’ The year of mercy has repeated these stories over and over again.

“‘¿No tienes temor de Dios, tú que sufres la misma pena que él? Nosotros la sufrimos justamente, porque pagamos nuestras culpas, pero él no ha hecho nada malo.’ Y decía: ‘Jesús, acuérdate de mí cuando entres en tu Reino.’ El le respondió: ‘Yo te aseguro que hoy estarás conmigo en el Paraíso.’” Casi a diario, los medios de comunicación nos ofrecen historias de crímenes, criminales, juicios y sentencias. Vergüenza, humillación y desesperación hieren a las familias tanto de las víctimas como a las de los acusados. Qué distinto fue todo en el Calvario esa tarde, cuando el “buen ladrón” aceptó su culpa, expresó remordimiento y ganó su lugar en el cielo. El Obispo Sheen declaró: “Cometió otro crimen y se robó el cielo.” El Papa Francisco cuenta la historia de una persona que iba a ser ejecutada y que no se arrepintió de sus crímenes, y que si hubiera tenido la oportunidad hubiera seguido cometiéndolos. El confesor le preguntó “¿No tienes pena de que no te da pena?” Permitamos que las palabras del ladrón arrepentido salgan de nuestra boca: “Jesús, recuérdame…” En el Año de la Misericordia se han repetido estas historias muchas veces ya…

“I membri del Sinedrio, che avevano consegnato Gesù a Pilato e ai soldati che dovevano crocifiggerlo, pensavano di essersi liberati di un uomo pio, certo, ma pericoloso politicamente. Ora, essi sono ai piedi della croce e lo scherniscono chiamandolo Messia, eletto di Dio, re. Ma Gesù, proprio in

quanto Messia e Re nel compimento del piano eterno di salvezza, ingaggia sulla croce una lotta sanguinosa contro Satana, che aveva soggiogato l’uomo sull’albero del paradiso. Ora, sull’albero della croce, Cristo gli inferisce un colpo mortale e salva l’uomo. Gesù poteva scendere dalla croce e salvarsi; ma non l’ha fatto, perché altrimenti non ci avrebbe salvato. Ed ecco che raccoglie i frutti della sua passione: uno dei due ladroni crocifissi ai suoi fianchi confessa i propri peccati ed esorta l’altro a fare lo stesso, ma, soprattutto, professa la sua fede: Gesù è Re! Il Re crocifisso gli assicura in modo solenne: “Oggi sarai con me in paradiso”. Adamo aveva chiuso a tutti le porte del paradiso, Gesù, vincitore del peccato, della morte e di Satana, apre le porte del paradiso anche ai più grandi peccatori, purché si convertano, sia pure nel momento della loro morte. Del resto, noi ben conosciamo molte conversioni simili.

2017 MASS BOOK

The 2017 Mass book will be available for your intentions beginning on Monday, November 21st, 2016.

We ask that you please fill out the following form inserted in this weeks bulletin with the possible

dates and times you wish to reserve a mass. This form will help us facilitate the process.

The meeting will follow after the 11am Mass.

THANKSGIVING DAY MASS

All are encouraged to celebrate Thanksgiving Day by attending the

9:00am Mass in the church.

On Thanksgiving Day Thursday November 24th and Friday November 25th only the 9:00am mass

will be celebrated in the church. The Rectory and Parish Center will be closed.

Calling all men In conjunction with the Knights of

Columbus, the parish is again offering an evening of prayer, recollection and a social gathering for the men of the parish. As was done

las year during Lent, the evening begins with Mass at 6:30pm, a talk giving by Father Steven Reilly at

7:15pm entitled “St. Joseph, Advent Hero”. This will be followed by a social and dinner at 8pm.

The date is Wednesday, December 14th, in the Chapel and parish center. Confession will also be available. All the men of the parish are invited.

FOOD DRIVE Last weekend the parish

began a food drive for needy families at Thanksgiving. Non-

perishable food items are being collected. Financial donations placed in an envelope

and marked Food Drive will also be accepted. Boxes will be available at the

entrances to the church for these donations for the needy. You may also leave your

donations at parish rectory office. The last day to submit your donations will be on

November 22nd, 2016.
