Chapel will resume after the 8 a.m. Mass on

Immaculate Conception of the Blessed Virgin.
Adoration provides a way of rendering God
His due as our Creator, of giving Him thanks
for our redemption, of making reparation for
our sins and the sins of mankind, and of
petitioning the good God for the constant
help we need.

Catholic Thoughts David Lins, Director of Faith Formation
The Christmas shopping season is upon us with less than forty days until Christmas. Many people are putting up their lights. Even more have begun to browse Amazon for the perfect gift. Others have picked the perfect day to decorate a tree. A few are strategically placing mistletoe. Still others might have entered into negotiations about how much time will be spent with each extended family. Whatever you situation might be, there is no denying that Christmas is coming once again and certain things must be done to get ready. Two key questions remain: what things really need to be done...and what are we getting ready for? I remember having a less than pristine home growing up. As a result, any time company would be coming over, It became an all-hands-on-deck emergency situation. It was nonstop cleaning for days. When company finally arrived, mom would sheepishly say, “I’m sorry it is such a mess.” Every single sibling would try not to giggle. The point is that when honored guests were on their way, my family would do everything possible to honor the company in advance of their arrival. The challenge for us, with only thirty six days left, is to do everything possible to honor Jesus in advance of His arrival. If you enjoy this column, please consider making time to attend a special retreat I’ve been preparing (ad on page four of this bulletin). Consider making an extra effort to get to daily Mass. Commit to an hour a week before the Blessed Sacrament in our chapel. Find a spiritual book in our book store to read. Oh...and confession is always a good idea! An honored guest is coming soon. All hands on deck! Questions? Comments? Email David at [email protected]
